Im seeking an alternative board to my 8'7" (110l) stun gun... advice / thoughts from people familiar with this board would be great.

I love the stun gun, we have become one together, the only reason im looking for another is i'm travelling and dont have the stun gun with me, and itd be nice to diversify and add another board to the quiver for when i get back.

So i guess what i want is:
- something that surfs good waves really good... of course (im thinking mainly for waves up to head high.... if it gets bigger ive got the gun haha)
- something that floats my 80 kg well enough to catch waves
- something slightly less tippy than the SG, for less than perfect conditions (as great as the SG is, its not the most stable board in chop, though ive gotten used to it now)

Ive been looking at the JL world wide but there must be other boards out there that fill a similar niche? Also perhaps the JL world wide will be too big a step down performance wise... not sure about this

WW is great in smaller waves, as i'm sure the Super Frank would be...

If nobody makes exactly what you want stock, you could go a custom Smik or Sunova...

I use the 8'7 Stun Gun as my "step-up" board & then use the 8'1 WW as my performance "groveller"....super stable & turns on a dime...The NEW Super Frank is an alternative for small waves & very stable but if you want all-round performance & the 1 board to travel with then maybe the 8'3 Super Tech....it surfs like a shortboard..
The most advanced wave board in the line. Low volume and narrow. This is our "short board" in the stand up line originating from our high performance short board designs. The rocker of this board fits into the pocket of the wave and allows for quick, tight maneuverability. The single concave in the center flowing to double concave in front of and through the fins gives the board lift and drive for maximum speed.
5 fin box set up.
Comes with JL 5 fin set. (allows for thruster or quad fin set up).
Thruster set size- 4.5"
Quad set size- Front 4.5" Back 4.0

+1 for the supertech, I have an 8'7" stungun and dropped down to the 8'3" supertech, the stungun is great in a bit of juice, but I struggled a bit to get it to go in smaller waves, the supertech loves the smaller stuff as well as handle a bit of power.
if you love the stungun, the supertech will blow you away.

Yes, definitely check out the SuperTech. I ride the the 9'1" ST and love it, versatile board in all conditions. The 8'8" SuperTech may be the board you're looking for. I also ride an 8' Super Frank Lean on the smooth, clean days. Great 2 board quiver.

To add to railbanger's comments, I went with the 8'8 supertech a few months ago. I am 80 kg. I came from a WW and a 8'7 stun gun prior to that. if I was in a less windy environment (my excuse) I might have gone the 8'3 supertech. I am really impressed with the speed and wave catching ability. It is a ripper one board quiver for me. My only gripe is jl have gone with honeycomb fins. I liked the glass ones better.

Hammer - I'm on a 8'5" WW, and I've only had it 6 months, but already feel like it's a bit slow and sluggish for my abilities, I'm thinking of going to a 8'8" SuperTech - I'm 78kg, thoughts/comparisons between the two?
