I'm just getting into the whole SUP thing. Have surfed for years on both short and long boards but want to have a go at these things. Have had a go at a couple of 10 footers and both seem OK although a bit ponderous on the smalll waves I surfed so far. Am looking at getting either the 9'8" or 10'2" but would appreciate some advice. I'm 80kg but tall at 6'2" so need something that is fairly stable to get me through the learning phase but don't want to get something that I'll grow out of in weeks. All thoughts appreciated - thx guys
I had a good demo on both the 9'8 and the 10'2. I am 5'11 and weigh 90kg. Found very little difference in the surfing performance of both boards, but on a really choppy, rough day, there is a very big difference between the two in terms of stability, and also found the 10'2 better on the flat water, hence I bought the 10'2 and absolutely love it. I find it is a really good allround board.
thumbs up for the 10'2" when the wind is up you'll love it. IMHO no such thing as the perfect one board quiver, well in SUP shortboards and longboards anyway.
