Recent addition to the family(yesterday in fact). More pics to come along with videos I hope.

Whilst it says 28 inches wide it is closer to 27.5. There is very little difference between this and the JP 8'0 and I have ridden both boards now.

Volume distribution is excellent and stability as such is above average.

I will add more when I get the chance to take it out in the surf. I had the board out for the first time yesterday at Terrigal Haven which was my starting point and then went all the way across to the bend in quite tricky conditions.

Love the looseness of this board! I was curious as to the extent of this feature given that this is a thruster only setup ( at this stage anyhow) and was pleasantly surprised how it was under my feet even in the absence of surfing conditions. Hope you enjoy the pics.

I have had the 8'0 for a while and have just got the 7'4 pro too.

The 7'4 at 85 kg would not be much fun I think

70 kg, supping 5 years +, competent level.

Had both the 7 & 8 in Fiji last week in a wide range of conditions and swell size up to 10'

At my weight can paddle the 7 pretty easy, but found as soon as it gets solid in size or over 15 knts + chop, the 8 is more enjoyable.

At 85kg .. as I said, whilst maybe not impossible, I dont think it would be much fun

@rocksup, I am 42 years of age and have been supping for the last 5 years. I weigh around the 72-73kg mark with a little over 6 foot in height so as you can see I am quite slim in size.

I really cant see any difference in the 8'0 to the 8'2 and a side by side would show that up to the extent that they both feel the same under my feet. I can say now that I waited for the 8'2 to come out and I could have easily stuck with the 8'0. They are both superb boards to my mind. I cannot comment on the 7'4 as I have not tried but I really think that you would be pushing it to get the maximum out of the board at your weight. I think a little bit of extra weight actually helps in the sense that it can reduce the corkiness to some degree but it would be I believe a struggle for you especially in chop and more importantly in the wind. The synergy of wind and chop is the real test and not so much wave size I feel. The 7'4 would I imagine be quite dynamic in the bigger stuff. The problem is that as soon as you go smaller in board size the less glide that you will get which means a lot more effort on your part that is required to get on a wave especially when it gets bigger. Positioning I think is the key to negotiating the big surf on a smaller sup coupled with some powerful paddling to get on otherwise you run the risk of getting caught on late take offs.

I know a guy who is a really competent supp'er who is your weight and looks at times unstable on his feet when riding the 8'0 which is his principal board so I would suggest that you approach the 7'4 with some caution. Furthermore if you cant get satisfaction out of the 8'0 or 8'2 and really throw the board about then I think you will struggle being satisfied with the 7'4. Just my opinion of course.

Cheers Ozzie

According to the JP SUP website the 8'0 and 8'2 weigh 6.5 and 6.6 kg and are separated by 6 litres in volume. There really is nothing in them size wise so I would certainly
encourage anyone out there to try both boards. I really think the only difference occurs in the head space which is a psychological thing more than anything else. In any event this board that I have will be loads of fun.

I have a 7'4 pro the weapon goes great in the waves I've experienced , apart from 12knts plus of wind , yes who would bother here . On the backhand it feels like surfing a shortboard surfboard with its ability to attack the lip quickly and not get hooked up , forehand im yet to master this lovely board . I weigh 70 kegs am 5'11 and have it rigged with MR twins and a PC 5 in the slot , lots of drive straight off the start for our sunny coast piss weak waves . Glide is fine , can't wait to get it into some decent waves with some hollowness. Enjoy the speed
