JB from Naish was down at my local beach yesterday having a demo day.

I was able to check out three new shapes from Naish.

Did you get to paddle the 14 x 30? If so what were your thoughts comparing it to last year's Glide? I'm looking to have a paddle of these boards next weekend at Torquay, but as someone just transitioning to a 14' board I'm not 100%sure what I should be looking at! Would love to hear the thoughts from someone as experienced as you.

I paddled all three and they were all really good..

I loved the big 14' x 30" Glide..

It would be a perfect DW board for anyone on the over 100kg club..

The big Glide is a board that I've been busting to try.. It's awesome.. Very smooth.. Very stiff.. Very stable.. and the only bad thing being that's its a bit weighty to carry.. But then it's a big-boy board and a big boy should have the strength to lift it.. It's a shame they don't do a lighter option for those big boys with bad backs.. One good thing about the weight is that it's very strong and very stiff.. The extra weight can actually help when catching runners IMO.. and also helps stop the board from flipping down the beach on a windy day like these super light boards tend to do.. I'd love to have one for a super wild DW day or a lumpy and messy DWer.. Sean from South Africa said they like to get out the big Corban Darts on those wild days because they have that Cadilac smooth feel.. The problem that I found with the Dart is they don't like the nose going under.. This new Glide loves it and it felt pretty fast to paddle on flat water..

See you at Torquay next Saturday..

Thanks for the insight... I am in the 100+ club, looking for my first 14' board to dw on, paddle socially, get fitter and maybe even recreationally race. Having paddled the 2015 14 x 29 Falcon, I was a bit surprised at the initial tippiness... Seems to be a common observation though. So hoping the Glide will fit the bill with a bit more stability ! How do you see it in comparison to the 29 wide Glide which I believe is the same shape as last year?

This new 30'' wide Glide is more stable than the 29'' wide Fanatic for sure and noticeably more stable than the 29'' wide Glide..

I'm thinking the 29'' Glide is a stable DW board for a normal weight person and the 30 being specifically for the bigger guys/gals..

I've paddled both the 14 x 30" Glide and the new 14 x 29.75" Falcon in the last couple of weeks...while the Falcon felt more nimble to me, the GLIDE is incredibly stable by comparison, and easily the stiffest and hardest-to-upset 14 footer I have ever been on (I am in the mid 120's)...yes you feel the weight, but the thing is like a rhinoceros on the water...in a good way. Ploughs through chop but it picks up & runs well and is very easy to step back on and pivot. Big, strong units well over the 100kg mark should take a serious look at it...even though there is a fair bit of dry weight to carry the new Naish handle sits well in a big hand and takes the edge off carrying quite a bit. You won't be as fast as a 70kg whippet on a Jav, but you wouldn't be anyway.

Compared to the previous 14 x 29 Glide (which I've had a few sessions on), would fit somewhere between the new Glide and the new Jav...the 14 x 30 is more stable but less nimble-feeling, if that makes sense. If you're a heavyweight chasing stability, the new 14 x 30 is the go, if you're closer to 100kg, the older glide or even the 28" Jav.

The 12'6 by 30" Glide is also well worth a try...that board is fun.
