Hi,

I'm looking for a lightweight 10'6... Something around 10kg that I could carry to the surf from my house ... about 1-2kg. There are some around, but a few seems super pricey ($2200+), while others seem more reasonable but I'd have to buy them untried and that makes me nervous. I'd like to try to stay around $1600 for board, paddle, legrope and cover. Based on northern beaches.
Is anyone able to recommend a SUP they've bought in the last 6-12 months? I'll mainly be SUPPing in flat water before tackling smallish waves. Based on northern beaches. I've been hiring boards for the past 6 months and now want to own one. TIA.

Look at a Waterborn Evoke, from the Surfboard Warehouse.

I bought the carbon model at 10' as my first SUP and it has been great in flat and small surf. I've not regretted the purchase in any way.

I'm now looking for something smaller for more wave performance (to perform more like a short surfboard), especially in bigger waves. I've found the Evoke to ride a bit more like a Mal in that sense.

Weight and Price have a direct inverse relationship.

You have successfully identified both ends of the 10'6" spectrum - congratulations!.

From here the choice is yours, but for mine you are better of paying the higher price for the higher quality and resale value.

Maybe get a Mule transport system and bike your board to the beach? Then you can buy whatever you like. I cycle my 14fters to the beach that way for solo downwinders, even in 30 knots or so (but use a bag if you do).

The JP All-round 10' x 29" or the JP 10'6" x 30" are great boards.
When looking at 10'6" boards you can't go far past the Naish Nalu GT 10'6". (now that they are back to the wood grain deck finish even better)
There are several Sunovas in that size range in the for sale section here too.

Hi again,

Had a look at the JP Fusion and imagine Icon - both 10'2 and similar boards - seems right for my height (5ft'4) and weight 75kg. And my budget.

Anyone know or own these and have a preference?

I have just ordered a 10' Atlantis Runway which is advised to be around 11kg. Should go okay on flat water if you are not too heavy and at under $1000 its worth a go.

Another option is a shoulder strap that attaches to the board (with a handy paddle holder as well) which makes a fairly heavy board very easy to carry. I can send a photo of mine if you like, but am not at home at the moment (be back in a week).

Can I suggest the NSP Coco Mat 10'6? Quad plus box, in Coco Mat the weight is similar to Carbon with higher strength and less than half of the price.

Thanks, do you have one yourself? How are they for glide and stability?

Thanks saw your review of them ... The current 9'8 looks right in terms of comparable 10'2s?
