I weigh in at 68-72 kg.
Surf mostly shoulder to head high plus reef breaks in HAwaii.
Quite a bit of side off winds is the norm.

Consider myself solid intermediate surfer.

Cant try out the boards so wanting to know if anyone in my weight range can compare 7'4 and 7'8?

at ur weight would have thought you could go the 7'2 easily.

curious to know those that have had the hypernut for a year or so how they like it. everyone was frothing for one when they were coming out, not much word since.

Love the 7'8. I weigh 75 kilos. I could go smaller but really wouldn't want to sacrifice the glide for any small performance gain. I tried the 8' and found it fun but too corky. A thinner 8 footer at around 110 litres would be a great all rounder but it doesn't exist .... yet. Seems the big name companies assume you must be heavy if you want a little more length in a performance board.

I've had the 7'2x 28 since September last year. Great board. It surfs unreal. I use it in small waves. I found the standard quad fin set up made the board feel bit too slidey. Once I put larger fins in it went much better for me as I could really push on the fins in turns.

I have surfed it in the margies area in solid double over head waves and although it manages ok I find it maxes out and can become hard to control. That's where I jump on a a more performance shape board any way. For less than perfect small waves its great and exactly what o was after. The 7'2x28 is more stable that my old JP surf 8'2x28

Its best characteristic is its speed its holds in off the lips!!

i was out here in a 9"0 110 liter board pintail and that felt great

Weigh 70 kg, I've had the 6' 10" x 26 since sep.Surf mostly point breaks fantastic board ,super fast excels in clean waves from 2 foot too over head.Fin change is a def i ride with ashley pace shapers fin AP01 . Other boards i ride are starboard airborn 7' 4' x28 for onshore days and starboard 7"7' for reefs .

I had the 7'2 and 6'10. For my 75kg the 6'10 is spot on. Both great boards but the 6'10 is significantly more manoeuvrable then the 7'2. It's flipping gold!
I use it in everything up to double head high. Over that size I grab my 8'5 SMIK custom gun.
Haven't tried tweaking the fins as it all feels spot with the one's it came with.
Super fast, solid grip and turns on a dime. Best short board SUP I have ridden to date.
You won't regret getting one! The 6'10 is a definitely keeper.

Paul,The fins i,m using are a slightly smaller profile with less rake,and stiffer due too being carbon.The fines at the base are slightly bigger thus giving more drive,reasoning using smaller fins is that the arcs turning are more tight ,as i reckon with the channel in the back of the board acts like fins thus using a smaller fin didn't effect the hold in steep hollow waves.Thats my theory anyway.also use these fins in my 7'4" airborn and i found them great in a three fin config.
