Just got my new Tomo Vader, his latest design to be picked up by Firewire. It's pretty much the Vanguard with a slightly pulled in Diamond tail, slighty narrower and a little more volume for the length. It's 5'6" x 18 5/8", 30.5 litres. I'm 83kg ATM but surfing a lot.

It has a 10- 12mm deep single concave running most of the length of the board fading out towards the tail. I have a Vanguard and this thing is just as drivey, lightning fast but can turn in incredibly tight arcs - or drawn out turns, depending on how you weight the tail.

I reckon this would translate to a SUP incredibly well - judging by the way the current Vanguard style SUPs seem to perform.

I have a Nano as well and this thing turns as well with about 20% more drive - Lacey take note

actually I had a nano. fast but a bit hard to control sometimes. I got into a beau young wombat mk2 6'2{always my favourite length of sb, not very trendy I know}, set it up as a quad with shapers s9s and gl sides.



it goes hammer and tongs but more controllable. made for power carves and hacks.fast

decide over all it was better than my nano

Okay if those dimensions are suitable for someone of that weight what dimensions are we looking at when translated to a SUP.

Don't know exactly, but if you scaled it up 33% it would come out roughly 7'4" x 25", then add enough thickness to keep the volume.

This thing flies because apart from the parallel rails, it has a deep 10-12mm single concave running the length of the board, love to see a SUP with one like that.

Aside of what you are right to say about this 5'6", originally this sb design make front foot on the nose and back foot on tail as a skate board or a twin tip does. If you scale it up at 7'4" , you won't have front foot onto the nose of the SUP.
Then it would not work in 7'4" as it does pretty good in a 5'6" version. IMO
Anyway, it 's worthing the demo and the expense of materials

Kami, if that were the case the Vanguard inspired SUPs wouldn't work either. This is just a variation on that design and is a little more 'user friendly'.

Goaty, u reckon go same length in the vader as the vanguard or go 1 inch shorter?

I'm really frothing about this design and not saying bad about...I mean this inspired Vangard design should work at best keeping shorter length as possible .

In a "user friendly" variation so with a bit of extra length , it will work for sure . But it's a shame to add few useless inches of length nose at this NoNose concept

I promise a 5'4" SB light weight carbon version to my son. So I will know more about this design later on

Hey Scotty, I went an inch shorter than my ideal VG length but mainly because the volume was there. A 5'7" VG is 32L a 5'6" Vader is 30.5L, while a 5'6" VG is 28.8L (a bit light on for me).

Such a sic board, had smoking DY point this morning on it.

Thanks to the seabreezer"s synergy, this is my next board to traveling in caribean island in janurary( crossing my fingers to get swells)
This is a tomo vanguard SUP inspiration with some of Kong's AB board i surfed with in the 90'
Next may be adding two front side channels in the nose.

Should work at its best in 3 4 foot very very clean coral waves

With nose's channels now . I send the file to CNC. I hope the CNC operator will do a proper cutting job, i won't shape it by hand
Laminating job will be enough work for me

How much do you weigh?

Thank you i agree this board is awesome and i'm happy to share the feeling with you. It's a tomo inspired shortSUP with 6 channels because they stiffering as fast as you go these wide and loose type of shortSUP
So, i draw 6 channels on it, cannot be able to be done by CNC must shape the grooves by hand. Anyway designing them is a matter of proving their flowing coherence.
Finally i did'nt send the file at CNC, i'm still spending more time to design and refine this board able to go in perfect hollow wave. As well as finding the perfect board (endless path) ...i'm ltraining to design on my pro version of S3D time life.
I'm 78 kg so my board use to be around 85 liters. I'm frothing to be able to stand on a 27 " with this minimum volume for my weight 60 years old body.


PS: this 6'9" designed tomo inspired board is upgrading the one of my avatar a 6'10" 28.5" 90 liters pointed nose/
