I just started SUPing about a month ago but spent a lot of my youth windsurfing competitively and surfing a long board on the East Coast of the US (mushy waist to head high waves mostly).
I am 42, 6"1 and 185-190 lbs. Our first board was an 11'6" Jimmy Lewis Cruise Control-wanted a tank for both my wife and I to share and a board we could take our 5 year old twins on. We got a great deal on a new but last years model and the board is good on flat water but can already tell at its size and volume it is not going to be the best in the surf. As we are likely looking to get another board so the mrs and I can paddle together I was hoping to get a board that will work for me in waist to head high surf and also work as a more allround board for her. The boards I like the looks of are the Coreban Icon and Fusion, the Fanatic all wave and the Nash Nalu 9"6 or 10"6.5. Unfortunately no demos close by so I am likely to have research and buy without trying. Again, looking for something that will float me without being too tippy and will be able to be surfed with a more progressive long board and short board style. I like nose riding but also want to be able to carve.

That's a big list 9-0 to to 10-6 almost a how long is a piece of string question all the boards you mentioned are all big volume so all will float you. The short and long Corebans and Fanatic are very similar and all can be ridden like mals along with the Naish Nalu range. Need to try before you buy , that's the only advice I can offer...sorry. Which state are you in ?
