I think i am in the same boat...Wanting to get a sup that i can sail and that the rest of the family can play on.
I'm about 80kg and surf an 8' mal and was looking at a sup that would be a bit of a family all rounder (wife, 2 young boys). We'll use it at Anglesea, Point RoadKnight and in the Bay.
I was thinking of the 10'6 nalu but might look at the mana 9'6 as the rest of the family could still paddle it easily.
i have a question though, how do these boards windsurf? I have not windsurfed for many years, are they ok for a bit of a blast up to 15 knots?
Any higher than that and I'll pinch my brother's boards.
Hi Matt 55 ..if you are looking to windsurf ...them ..the mana 9.5 ' doesn't have the mast base insert ..it s mainly for surf .
the Nalu GT 10.6 ,11' and 11' 4 are your best options in the naish range .they windsurf ok ...( but not as good as a windsurf board)I don't take them out over 15 knot as I don't
like windsurfing without foot straps when the wind really starts blowing .but non planing and cruising around and learning the basics they are fine and fun .ok to muck around in the surf with a small sail too.
we have the 11.4 and the 11' in our family the 11.4 sails alot faster ,as the 11' has alot more rocker .the 11' is .better for waves .as the 10.6.
10.6 Nalu GT . would be the best choice for your weight .and surfs like a long board .which you would enjoy more being a long boarder.
i use the 11' most of the time @96 kgs.
