I have ride at starboard pro 9 xl wide 29 and it has been too narrow to me ,
I am 85 kg 172 high and 43 years old.
I want stablity and easy enter and catching the wave, i consider to buy the flow 8.7 120 l or the fanatic pro 9.2 130 l.

I would hold onto your current board and get used to it. It is not too small, you just need to spend more time on it. Spending more money wont make you improve and learning is what it is all about.

Have to agree ^^ you just need more time practicing.

Flows a cracker, but it still requires some time practicing on it too.

Unless obviously you really just want to change brands, then why not.

the flow is wider ,so maybe ..how many litres is your starboard .
there is a 8'10 flow at 130 litres 31 wide .i ride this one more than my 8'7@ 30 1/4 ,because of the width ...
but i'm 10 yrs older and 98 kgs.
maybe the 8'7 would be perfect for you.if you feel the 29 is too tippy .

Hiya.
Well I can't compare my Flow to a Pro because I've never ridden a Stb SUP, you may find that hard to believe, but I just haven't. One of my Surf mates has an 8'10 Pro (I think it's an 8'10, might be a little smaller) and he loves it, but then he's a Stb fan and also has a HyperNut too, a small one. I've also never ridden a Fanatic Allwave nor a JP Surf SUP..

I think, and this has just come from practicing in all sorts of conditions (flat, no wind, wind, chop, waves, 1ft crumble, head plus etc..) that as long as you keep moving, you'll be fine. At 29'' wide your Pro is going to be "wobbly" and chuck you off, it's a design that leads to good clean/slightly bumpy waves where you generate a lot of speed before it becomes stable. Once upto speed I think it's probably going to be a cracker to surf TBH, they a popular for good reason. if my mates surfing is anything to go by he rips on his Pro, he's a bit back footed but thats because he's still trying to slow it down as it takes off down the wave, he knows what he's doing but still stomps the tail and it stalls.. But you are going to find that in any board you ride I reckon if you a bit intimidated.. Speed is definitely your friend, on any board in surf.
It's an issue I think we've all found out the hard way at some point in our surfing, keep moving and all's fine.. stand still waiting and get hit by a little cross chop or wind and you're in the drink.. Can be frustrating and tiring for sure..
I would recommend you find somewhere quiet and go practice tail spins and switch stance foot manoeuvres for a few weeks before committing to getting rid of the Pro.

So, the Flow.. well it's been said a good few times that it's a cracker, I reckon it really is a sweet spot in Sunovas line up.. The 8'7 will handle bigger blokes and smaller blokes and newbies too.. it does have a lot of inherent balance around it's middle because of both plan shape and volume, at 31'' I think it's just about right for ripping shoulder high bumpy through shin high crumble.. take it in bigger sucky waves and you have to be on the ball with positioning and speed before the wave as it'll start to tip you up and you need to properly give it some shove to get over the top of the lip, then dig a few times and scoot off and do what you do best..
EDIT: I forgot to add experience with FIN setups, when I first got the board (May this year) I was told to set it up as a Quad, so I did. I used the Sunova fins stock and left it like that for about a month, then I decided to change them for smaller Fins and bought some PCC-7's (my avatar is a pic of the Flow in Quad with the PCC-7's in) There is a pic of my Flow in one of the threads on here about Fins, where we were chatting about setups and stuff, go seek that thread out its really interesting.. anyway why change the Fins from stock to the smaller PCC-7's? well in that thread a few folks were chatting about smaller Fins and how they work best for conditions, anyway I bought a 5 PCC-7 setup and used the Quads in crumble, chop, waist high and head high sucky and they're great for generating speed and grip.. then one guy on here said "why not thruster" and you know what? why not.. so it's now in thruster and it rips, proper carves tight and neat and I can push the tail out on the top and slash it all around.. and thats my style of surfing all a bit slashy and quick.. so what I'm also saying is if you have the opportunity to swap out the Pro fins or thruster/quad it give that a go too.. It's good to learn and understand the board.

Have you watched STC's vids? or the many Vids that SurfFX or AussiePaddlesurfer (casso/marty/james) etc. They've got plenty of footage that you can watch and gain insite as to how to surf the Flow (or the other boards they've video'd)

Right, I am a Sunova fanboy yes but I've paid for all my boards out of my hard earned cash.. However I'm sure that if DEEP or Infinity were available over here in the UK I'd have definitely looked into those Brands. I like the ethos of Sunova and I really like the designs and build quality.

good one kobys .also surfed my 8,7 yesterday ...they rip .

i went out in 4 foot mush with medium quads .although very loose and sick moves
..i had to go in and change as standing up was not fun ...went back to the 94 fronts
4 '' rears had a blast and picked up extra speed needed to get around the crumble .
but still on the tail shredding .its a great board and a favourite in my quiver.
