Im Interested in getting into some flat-water paddling, a bit of down-winding for fitness and would like to be able to take it into some small surf. I currently Sup 10ft longboards and prefer 30 inch wide. Im 95kgs and would class myself as an intermediate supper. Whats on offer and the right width / volume for my weight. I would lean towards stability over performance and looking at 14ft length. Any guidance would be appreciated.

How much flatwater do you think you will be doing compared to downwinding? this can be important as you can lean the board more towards what you will be doing the most. All boards will flatwater paddle and most will downwind but how well each board does what is the more important part here, a ocean board might Down wind really well but be pretty slow in the flat and a flatwater board might be really nice and fast in the flat but might be quite technical to ride in DW.

If you want to catch waves then a flatdeck board will be better for this side.

You really have to try some boards. Where are you?
Then decide. Be harsh on yourself and understand what you will really do. Flat or downwind because 1 board will always be better at 1 thing.

Check out the SIC RS SF 14' very good flatwater but really a downwinder.
Flatish bottom but a little tail and nose lift and high volume nose that resists pearling. I bought the 28" for stability but really could have got the 26" ( Surf FX did tell me that and they were right). VERY stable and resists side chop brilliantly. Much better than anything else I have had.
Slight dugout and harder rails that give brilliant secondary stability.
BTW Surf FX currently has only a 26" in stock but be prepared for the price...www.surffx.com.au/collections/sic/products/2020-sic-rs-14
