I am going to get my first SUP. I am 6'. An weigh 260 lbs
I will be using it mainly on a lake in flat water conditions. The local store is going to get a container of Blue Planet boards. I was thinking of getting their 11'5" Boss board. Any comments?

Not familiar with the blue planet boards, we don't have them over here but the dimensions of that board you're looking at look generally suitable, can't see volume on the Blue Planet site, always helpful to know that when you are big.

Other ideas for you - the Starboard Atlas would be a good, versatile first board for your size and intended use, especially if your lake chops up. Stable as a dock and excellent glide for an "allround" board. I'm roughly your dimensions and have owned one for two years and it's a keeper.

You could also consider going to one of the wider 12'6 or 14' race/touring boards for your intended use and if you have the space to store one. At your weight aim for 280-300litres or more for a pointy board. No idea what else you have access to over there maybe but if you can I'd suggest you look at 14x30 fanatic falcon, coreban dart or edge, jimmy lewis searcher or M14, gerry lopez kawai kai just a few for thought. The Naish 12'0 Glide or 12'6 Glide would also be good choices for you. Suggest you make contact with user "easy rider" over on standup zone...he's a retailer somewhere in canada, edmonton I think, helpful guy, doesn't just push his own brands.

Check out link below which shows some pics of my Laird Coastrunner. It's not fastest but a great touring board and very stable.

i've just camped for 5 days at a local lake with my naish 12' glide touring and it was (as usual) teriffic from glassy to very choppy

it's hybrid nose is great thing. so much better than ploughing along on a surf style board and pretty good compared to a displacement nosed race board

one board to rule them all - check it out

And if you want a Naish 12' GS touring (as in above post) that is under 2 months old in absolutely perfect condition you can have mine for $1200.
Wife and youngest is off to visit family OS next week and we need the money.
PM me if interested.
But...I really don't want to sell it.
