Has anyone looked at these as a side fin replacement in a thruster setup?

Cuttlefish have you tried these ? , i ride big twins with a 4.5 centre , low drag lots of drive . these look different .

kevpun - I was given the centre 3ds to demo on my 9'8" and wasn't happy with the results. The adjustable fin Cuttlefish posted looks like a better idea if you want that sort of setup. The 3ds has a fixed wing that is too inconsistent depending on your stance. If you're putting weight on your front foot it feels like it's dragging, and as soon as you step back on the tail it surges forward & throws you off balance. It might suit some surfers, but not for me thanks...it felt like the board had a mind of its own, and although the surges were cool, the stalling felt similar to windsurfing with weed caught on the fin.

i've been using a set of these on and off for quite a while, they work much better as rear fins in a quad set up, don't do much in a 2+1 setup.

I can imagine the big centre 3Ds completely changing the board - just thought the little ones on the side could add a bit of stability ... but I think you're right, the adjustable ones could be very interesting to play with.

I'm also looking for new fins for my 10'6".5 Nalu but won't be using those fins that IMO will do nothing but cause drag.

The only good thing about them is how safe they are because you shouldn't be able to get fin cuts from them..

Well, I'm adventurous ... I'll try both. I surely can't hit the water any harder than I am already,

I've tried them all 3D's , Elevon's , Rasta Sea Shepard Twins , they all have their great moments but overall they don't suit most conditions especially when it's choppy. The big difference with Sups is they don't need lift in the tail as these fins can try to push the tail up only to create drag.

It's fun playing around (can get expensive) but I find you get best overall performance from standard set up's.

These are a few of my Frankenstein set ups the green and yellow board started out as a twin only but it hated the chop , so I added the other boxes.

I've just put the FCS 3Ds on the Nalu - will take a pic in the ?? sunshine ?? tomorrow.

I tried the Wavefins - they look well made, but they really didn't seem to do anything for me. I'll hang onto them ... you never know when you'll find a use, but if anyone's on the northern beaches and want's to give them a try - drop me a line.
