Hi All, has anyone owned a Fanatic Allwave, 9-5, or a JP Wide Body 9-3? The Fanatic has a touch more float at just under 160l. I'm 6-2 and 99ish kg , and often end up kneeling in bumpy conditions which doesn't bother me but it's hard on the Deck!

love to hear your thoughts on the better or worser board, especially for a 60-plus old fool...

I don't know a whole lot about the JP but the Fanatic HRS construction is really hardy.

I have a 9'10 allwave. Its super stable. I imagine the 9'5 will be similarly so...

I've had both and the Fanatic by far the more stable board.

I am 90 kg and have the JP widebody 8,8 from a few years back when 32 wide. It's a stable board but lively in the surf ....construction is the wood version...lasting well and light. Allwave will be more stable but more corky. Both good boards.

I've not owned either of these models, but i have owned many different models of both brands. Both have excellent construction in terms of durability, but a carbon JP is unmatched in terms of durability and weight. I have a 2015 7'4 carbon that takes a beating and its around 6kg with fins! and after all these years, no deck compression and barely any paint chips.

Compare that to my much heavier 2017 Prowave - whilst no deck compression here either, the paint chips are alarming. Its like 2-3mm thick and whole sections come off...

I am 5'10" and 85kg. I have a 8'9" 145 liter all wave coming down from a 10'6" BIC beginner board. At first it was bumpy, but after 6 months, I find it awfully floaty. I demo-d a 9'1" Sunova Creek with less liters (I think 135) , and I felt it was more stable and much more maneuverable. I have read on forums that you should go a little shorter than you think you should on these boards because of the float.

Thanks again...very interesting comment on durability. I have owned Naish, Laird, C4, PSH, Deep, Tom Carroll and Jimmy Lewis which has so far proved incredibly strong. I have thrashed this board including lots of kneeling. The end result is a couple of minor paddle chips only! The finish on these boards is outstanding!
