General question about the 10' Fly Allround. How do they perform in the surf? Is the rocker too shallow?? Looking at buying one as my next board after learning on an 11 6".

Genaral comments or advice appreciated.

Hi momasfolly,

The 10' and 10'6" Fly boards are designed with a particular emphasis on wave riding ability. They have ample surf rocker and are standard with Thruster fin setup. They surf well for an allrounder. The HRS version is very resilient against scuffs, scrapes and paddle strikes.

Very stable and easy board to surf. If you are primarily going to be surfing, then also consider the All wave, but if you are after something you can use in general conditions, then the Fly is the goods. A seriously good fun board, and excellent value for money.

Thanks for that. Would you recommend the Fanatic over a Naish? For an 80kg, mainly surf oriented paddler, what would you recommend as a step up board from a beginners one ? My current board is a Seak 11 6.
I spend my time in the waves from 6" to 7 '
Thanks

I have a 10' Fanatic Fly and use it in the surf from 1'-3' or even up to 4' max. It surfs really well in the smaller stuff and I think it is better in up to 3' waves.

Have had a few wipeouts when the bigger sets roll in and I guess it's partly my bad technique and partly the size of the board that limits it. It will do cut-backs but not fast ones. (I weigh 70-72 kg so have to get right back for this).

The HRS construction is fantastic and durable and it doesn't weigh that much more compared to the Fly woodie version and it certainly is great value for money.

The Fanatic All-Wave is better for serious surfing but the Fly is a great all rounder IMO.

Will do me for a while yet.

Thanks WB!
I purcahsed the Seak as a starter for small waves to 2'. Used it in up to 7 and had a blast so this should be a better suit to surf and yet still retail the flat water capability.
