Wow - best board I've ridden....and I've ridden a few - haha.

12'6 x 30.5.

General thoughts where;

* Sat about as high off the water as a 14' Laird Coastrunner (and that's high enough that your feet just don't get wet !).

* Felt as stable as the 11'2 x 36 Starboard Avanti (so if you ever tipped it you should just give the game away).

* The nose shape cut through the water surface like a hot knife thru butter.

* With a little tail wind, it felt like it'd take off and actually created bow waves.

* Quality is amazingly good and at 11kg the weight is SWEET.

* So, IMO, it's just made half my quiver redundant !

Here's some pic's.

very nice and the carbon one too :D for over 30 wide there an incredibly quick board and so stable you can just keep the power down the hole time .injoy and look after her

Yes this board is awesome, and as charlie said the stability allows you to just power the whole time even through messy chop. I even took my kids paddling with me on it yesterday and it was easy. Main words that come to mind are Fast and Smooth, you kind of forget about stable cause your not thinking about it while your paddling.

Definitely worth a Demo!

I'm interested in demo'ing the Fanatic 10' Fly Wood. You wouldn't happen to know where I could get hold of one. (I'm in Sydney - East)

Hey BreezyC,

We have all the Fanatic range in store over at Collaroy including the 10' Wood and at $1799 they are not overpriced.

Cheers,

Sam.

Looks like such a blatant rip off of the Bark Competitor... Except the 1" wider innovation!

Nice review Surfanimals

it's a beautiful looking board the nose reminds me of the super long board that LSD made a couple of months back. The comments on the standup zone say the board is very different 'in person' to the Bark competitor.....I just love the nose on the fanatic - it looks fast and 11kg is light for a board of this size.

Does anyone know the weight for the standard 12'6 fanatic?

Cheers

the wood version is about 2 or 3 kgs more i think but i cant realy trust my scales. after spending alot of time on booth on the flat water most would be happy with the wood i think but when your in the surf you do notice the added stiffness of the carbon and it is definitely worth having it. as you say the board does look very similar but on the water it is quite different and i think as a allround shape its hard to beet. after only 3 races i got a 2nd overall here in the uk for 2010 and that was on just a wood version as someone trashed my carbon one under a car (dont ask!)

At a quick glance it appears like that but I think it's mostly the deck grip styling that makes it look that way.. Put the two boards side by side and they are very different.

its been fixed up now but it weighs about the same as my wood one so its been demoted to the demo board,it wasnt to bad but they proceeded to use it after and it also tock on a hole load of water which was the most annoying bit i tried to dry it for ages but its just went to far, sorry i dont have any pics
