Hi there, I tried to drop a different set of futures into my allwave yesterday.....not even close to going in. Ive had the fins i was going to use in three different twin fin setups, no worries.

Are the allwaves Futures or NOT..... and what should I do so they actually fit without butchering my good fins??

User JimK over on standup zone is an avid promoter of the AW, he uses a couple of different futures combos (JM and Solus?) in his allwaves, see page 2 of this thread

he doesn't report any fitment problems but maybe try sending him a pm over on the 'zone, he's a pretty obliging guy.

(Let us know how you get on...not ready to change out the stock fins yet on my Allwave but it'd be useful to know if there's a fitment problem with some sets ...)

There def seems to be an issue with my boxes. There is no way my T2 Futures are going into the box. I'm going to try another set and see if they go in. . . might be my fins....but I doubt it.

The fanatic fins look almost custom cut at the notch at the back....sort of hand machined....if u know what I mean. The T2's notches are bigger but in a diff spot. They are glass ones too, so they would b right (I would have thought).

Yes, the boxes are Futures in the Allwave.

I use the Futures Jamie Mitchell thrusters in my 9'6" Allwave (the lime green one) have swapped-out a number of fins with no fit issues though the center box did require a small cut piece of 1/16" x 2" LDPE(low density polyethylene) shim in the bottom of the box under the fin to keep it tight, not unusual.

How far off are your fins? If the fins are a "little bit" big for the box, sand them down a little at a time. Maybe you have some excess epoxy or something obstructing the slot?

Just tried dropping a set of Futures S Tows into the side bites of an AllWave at the shop and as i thought no problems.
What sometimes happens is during finishing a small blob of resin drips in and gets stuck at the back of the box under the lip that locates the fin. Just rake it out with the key and the fin should drop straight in.

I have the 2013 9'2" allwave and have been considering if it improves the board performance to switch to the Jamie Mitchel future fins. Mostly will be riding 1 to 4 foot mushy waves. Looking for more speed down the line and rail to rail slashyness. (is that a word?) Anyone find improvement with fin change?

I have the Jamie Mitchells on my 9'6" and do notice most of all they are far less "draggy" than the stock fins and hold better in the steeper stuff. Move whatever center fin you run all the way up in the box....this makes a big difference.

I chucked some S5 shapers fins in (with the futures box profile) and they were loose..... I'm at a loss now. one set won't go in and one are loose as...

Do futures run a different box for surf, or SUP, and twin fins?

No biggy, still love the board.

Futures do a differnt box for front and back fins for quad set ups,

On my coreban the boxes are all the same and suit the larger front fins, on my PSH the front boxes are bigger than the rear quad set up and I had to get a set of quad fins to suit.

I lost the issued centre fin off my new 9'3" Pro while riding a wave.
Brand new, first session.

The fin in question didn't seem to fit quite right in the first place
but you do your best and you expect the whole unit to be spot on.
Top of the range, expensive, and all that.

Definitely faulty goods .. and when I asked for a replacement fin
the Fanatic boys just laughed at me .. case for consumer protection?

Unfortunately when the fin in question is at the bottom of the ocean it is a bit hard for the importers to see the suspect fin.
but as good will gesture Fanatic have decided to supply a new set of 5" fins.
I did try a cheaper vector center fin in a prowave yesterday and it fitted perfectly.

i have a 8,10 2012 prowave and have swaped to jm thruster and also had to shim centre fin and then lost a side fin surfing so im back to the stock fins has anyone tried short board futures ?

The S tow fins we tried are standard short board fins,the only difference will be rear quads which have a different depth to the fin box, so front side bites from a thruster or quad finset will not fit in a rear quad box!

Fronts are deep box, rear are shallow and you cant swap - pain in the arse - personally I think they are inferior as far as holding in the boxes

I've had futures fins rear quad fall out for no apparent reason - on a 8'9 ripper - I've been using FCS as long as they have been around on shortboards and never had a problem -

buying a replacement is almost as expensive as the full set - so ride it as a thruster with an FCS US box adapter and small FCS centre fin (from my Merrick Biscuit) - works a treat

After my last 2 boards (Coreban Fusion & PSH Ripper) with futures I must say not really a fan

My twinnies def wont fit in the allwave boxes. I think the allwave must have the shallow rear box in it? But the strange thing was how loose and deep the shapers quads sat in it... I'll just stick with whats on it, it goes good with stock anyway..

hi - sorry to drag up an old topic but i was trawling for info about the allwave standard fins and came across this about the fin boxes.

i lost a 5" side fin on a river paddle with only a short wave session at my local rivermouth (onshore and too bumpy out in the little waves to persist). given i have buckleys chance of getting one outside side fin replacement, i thought i might try get a different thruster set of futures, something with overlap for another surfboard in my quiver (kite or surf board really, hadn't made up mind yet) and throw the outers from this new set in the allwave when i wanted to use it.

anyone tried anything similar and have advice to share? should i not bother given the comments about irregular boxes, and just try to source a new 5" fanatic side fin (or set of two)?
any comments much appreciated...

ive got the Shapers S5 in my Allwave. They fit nicely. I would contact the dealer.
