Thinking of getting a smaller board, I am 75kgs and have had the 2013 Allwave 9'2" since they came out end of 2012. Got this over the 8'10 as I wanted the extra stability. Mostly catching stuff in the UK in 2-4ft region occasionally 5 ft (not very often). With experience and my lighter weight now finding I might like something more manouverable.
Question: would the Allwave 8'6" at 134lts be a step down to far (from 9 2" at 160lts) or would I be sensible going for the 8'10/11 which is only a drop of 10lts.
I dont have the chance to demo either as the dealer (I get a good discount from) is 400miles away. I wasn't going to consider the 8'6" but he has a 2013 model left with 25% off.
Also how much difference to manouverability does changing from the standard fanatic fins make (any suggestions pse)
UKAde... I am MUCH bigger than you at 100 kg + winter wetsuit (66 yrs).... I have been riding the 8'10 (2013) for a year.... very easy for me... stable.
YES... with each drop in size... the Allwaves surf geometrically better.... the 8'6 will be a huge improvement over the 9'2. I MAY be wrong... but the 2014 may be the same as the 2013 in the 8'6 and the 9'10 sizes. I have never seen the new 8'6... but I think you will be VERY happy with a deal on the 2013!
Thanks for that, also found an older thread on same subject. I have ordered the 2013 8 6" and one of my mates who's bigger than me wants to buy my 9 2" so its a win win situation.
