How much does it weigh?

Haven't weighed it but it's really much lighter than the 12-6 from last year. I am going to do some gps runs next week. Seems very fast as well.

what size would suit someone who is just over 6ft and just under 100kg for use in choppy river conditions ?

whats the difference between the hrs and carbon boards ?

I would say a 14" for your size, regardless of brand. Depending on your skill level, as a beginner I would lean towards the wider race boards and then as you progress you can go narrower.

14' hrs x 30 Falcon weighs about 18kgs (mine does) so I would go carbon if your racing. Nice boards but I would recommend demoing as for me the weight IS a big issue so much so that I am considering returning mine and getting something lighter.

Good luck

brusier, how much lighter is the carbon ?

i dont intend to race, so a small weight difference doesnt really concern me.

does the carbon have any other advantages apart from the weight ?

I've sat and read this post for a while now.

Why is weight at the forefront of most riders minds with no thought to momentum ?

I've got the HRS 14 x 30 as well as a full carbon Coreban Dart with 8kg difference between the two.

Imo, unless you are at the pointy end of racing or carry a board a long way to the water, the weight issue is totally over thought by the 90% recreational rider.

Having the light Dart, why did I buy the big HRS ?

It's bullet proof...carbon isn't if treated with disdain.

It's super stable on the bumpiest days so punching swell and fighting boat wake are of no consequence.

It's under $2k and a trade later on doesn't lose you a week's salary.

If your an average punter wanting to participate, consider why they have 2 constructions in the first place and look at the advantages of the weight for us hacks and leave the pro construction to the top end riders which is who its designed for and R&R'd by.

...and BTW, the 14 x 27.5 HRS is similar weight to the 14 x 30 carbon. Maybe 2kg in it max I reckon.

supanimal, thanks for your comments.

What made you get the 27.5" rather than the 30" ?
what is your approx weight ? and what conditions do you use your HRS in ?

what years model is your 14'x27.5" ?

I went the 30 after riding the 27.5.

I'm 6ft and 94kg (was 104 last year) and the board is for ocean, runners and tiny bay waves.....bouncy, windy and not ideal conditions.

I have a SIC 14' x 27 for flatwater / glass conditions so I felt the stability of 30 wide and extra weight in the Falcon HRS ideal for the conditions I will use it in.

(Like driving a Fairlane on the freeway rather than being thrown around in a Mini).

The 27.5 felt great too; faster but its not all about speed, more about stability and control.

I got the HRS for that reason as well but it just annoys me the Fanatic do not publish the weight of their products. I'm not at the top end of any racing scene (only have ever raced recreational) but you do notice having to push around another 5 or 6kgs when your fitness training and just having a paddle. I was hoping for around 15kgs cf to 18kgs but I can manage it re getting onto roof rack and having to carry etc.

I take my falcon when its choppy and unsure if the conditions will change and its a nice paddle and I expect it to be slow due to the wind and chop. I am 5ft 10 and 105 kgs and paddle in sheltered harbour conditions and use my Bark Dominator in calmer conditions.

Rode the big beast this morning. Loved it.

I reckon we are both on winners for our intended purpose.

Buy the carbon 27.5 for racing and you got the pigeon pair.

Getting back to the 12'6" Does anyone have an accurate weight for the HRS 12'6" x 27.5". Any new ride reports? Thanks.

I rode one last week and thought the weight ok.
At a guess I'd have said 12kg given I'd come off the 10kg Coreban Vision.

It didn't have me thinking 'heavy bugger' that's for sure. I ordered the 12'6 x 30 HRS.
