We demo'ed the F-one 12'6 race and the F - one 9'1" today. Paddled them in REALLY choppy conditions, and fat lumpy runner type waves.
The 9'1 was really very hard to catch any wave on today, but I can say with 65-70kg on board it was very very stable, considering the conditions we were paddling in. The first thing I noticed about the board is that its super light, and very nice finish.Would like to have this board in quiver to surf on choppy days.
The f-one Race was an awesome looking board, flash carbon rails, bamboo deck, and nice graphics and a comfy deck pad. I didn't like the "star touch" like deck at the tail, too abrasive for my soft skin, but it does work grip wise.
The F-one race punched out thru the 1m choppy swell nicely, and it seemed to catch the bumpy swell easily! Compared to my Fanatic 12'6(narrow) carbon race, it was def more stable, and would suit a bit heavier rider than the Fanatic. It surfed almost as well as the fanatic, but I do prefer the awesome nose shape of my fanatic and slightly sharper rails, which is less wind affected, and better in the surf. It was prob comparable weight to the fanatic, if not lighter. Nice balanced handle point, always good to have. all in all V nice fun board for flat and small surf and racing- Thanks to Jono at the shop for the opportunity to paddle it!
Took the F-One 12.6 out this morning and loved it, would buy one easily as a great BOP and downwinders board but also quick enough to race flat water being so light. It punched out through the waves easily and was very stable, if at a slight angle the weed fin would swing the nose straight again as the white water passed but not so violently as to throw you off. At 29" it was very stable in choppy water and surfed very well. The tail grip aft of the deck pad was just right and I caught some great waves all the way into the beach. At first you feel a little high being about an inch and a half above the waterline, it does roll slightly then just stops rolling and is stable. I'm 82kg and 6', but this would suit a bigger paddler easily. Perhaps on the next model, a sunken deck would just complete this board. As SunnySup said, finish is great, surfs well and is as quality as anything else out there, how much - not sure. Thanks to Johnno for the demo.
Great looking boards ,yet to try one ,surf sups look great , construction looks and feels solid , good effort bringing a quality looking product to the big table.
Hi ,i just tried the 9-1 wow very stable and very well built ,nice and fast and turns easily geat allround board for someone about 90kg haha thats me lol. carn't wait to try it in clean waves [:)
Yes me too blowup, chimed rail looks not to dramatic on this not like the psh which is a bit over done for our sometimes rocky conditions here on sunny coast, did not like this on the psh needed cleaner conditions so it didnt shake you off, and the 2 stage bottom turn felt a little weird . Construction seems a lot more solid than some of the other chinese rubbish out there and the shape of this little quad looks fast . Proof will be in the testing ? If all they do is make kites !, what are the other guys excuses for construction issues on some of there sups , yes i know it comes down to what the cost is at the end at what the public might pay , or does it come down to margins , you wouldnt be in business if it didnt ! bring on the swell
Test report , 2 ft face flat bottom reeling down the line , stability fine even though river had some wonk , paddled on not bad for a shorty, speed was good , being a 70 kg riderand 29 wide i thought board would suit a bit more weight on it to get the board moving quickly in smaller 1-3ft faced waves , bigger face than this my weight would be better on it. Nice off the tail for turns on the quad, bit of drift off the top which is always fun. Conclusion - well made ,stability good for a small board, best suited for 75- 90kg as a fun fast little board for medium to advanced rider skills . Might have to drink some more beers and eat big slabs of turkey over xmas ,to get me on this little gem . thanks for the test ride fone
