Hey everyone. I'm just after some info on the ECS boards from anyone that has paddled them or had anything to do with them. I'm especially interested in the noserider but any info on build quality of other boards would be appreciated. I'm 85kg and probably between a beginner and intermediate sup surfer on a 10'6 x32 board with a lot of volume at the moment. I'm just not sure whether to go the 10'x28.5 or the 10'x30. I'm concerned that the 28.5 will be too unstable and take the fun out of it. Thanks in advance for any info.

Happy with my ECS board. Had it three years. Gets plenty of use and it's still in great condition. Mine is a brushed carbon PW2. It's been a good value, good performance SUP.

I brought a 10x28.5 for my wife and it's a great board. The construction seems tough no chips or dints.
I have ridden it quite a few times and found it very stable I was around 98kg when I first got it for her.
I would say you would be fine on the 28 as the parallel rails give it a bit more stability it may take a session or two to get use to.
Im currently riding a 10'1x26.5 deep and after being on mine my wife's boards feels even more stable.
There is only 7L difference between the two and at your weight I think you will find the 28.5 will surf better.

I have had both the 10 x 28.5 and now have the 10 x 30.
28.5 is a Surperb board and would have kept it but circumstances - I got the 30 wide.
30in wide is also Surperb board as I have added a 6.5 in cutaway center fin with 2 side bites. End result super stable and performs like a smaller board plus paddles very fast. Fin choice will let this board suit a big range of surfers.
28.5 wide much more balance skill required but if not at this level this board will help you get there.
I have just purchased a J L 8 5 Striker which will be a perfect quiver match for the 10ft ECS Noise rider.

The ecs bamboo 10'x28.5 is the best board I have ever laid my hands on. I usually ride 6'10 customs etc but seriously this board is epic. Holds up really nicely, Iv used it in ankle to over head point breaks.

The boards are full bamboo top,bottom and around the rails. Vacuum bagged with a matte finish. Full package deal in aus for the bamboo is $1500 including carbon adjustable paddle, leggy & travel cover. Or you can get them in the brushed carbon construction too.

I have the ECS noserider in the 10' x 28" & absolutely love it. I rode both the 30" & 28" when deciding, both are great boards, the 28" just surfs better.
I'm about your weight & no issues with balance. Go for it, guarantee you will not regret it. It's now a toss up some days which board to use, my Slab or my noserider?

Thanks for sharing your info everyone. Thinking I'll go the 30" due to being windy quite often where I live and would give me more stability in wind chop. But in saying that I'm going to demo the 28.5 when it's available so that may change my decision. The next decision is what's the best construction. Carbon or bamboo. I like the look and sound of the carbon boards but there seems to be positive talk about the bamboo deck. The new model sounds like the best of both worlds from what I hear. Maybe I wait and demo one of them.

I have the ECS 10x28.5 in bamboo, just like the blue one on the beach two pics above this post. The 30 will be more stable than the 28.5 I expect, although unless it was really choppy the 28.5 is not what I would call unstable at all. I have had it out in seriously stupid windy sizeable surf and it is OK. In my view these are definitely performance style longboards and I reckon they go better in larger surf than smaller lighter conditions. The bamboo has flex whereas the carbon is stiff. It depends on your preference. What I wanted was a board that had good rail to rail transition, plus a burst of speed as needed. I am not a noserider, so that skill is a bit lost on me. I'm a weekend intermediate style surfer - no contest wins to my name :). The boards quality is really as good or better than your "name" brands. It responds well to different fin setup's and comes with a 5 fin selection to play with from memory. The rails are really refined and the rounded pin tail is also very refined. I have had two ECS boards over the years and really cannot fault them. I rode this board back to back with a Stylemaster and I have to say it was chalk and cheese, hence I bought the ECS. Now I have several sups as I just bought another one so I will be rationalising the fleet come summer.
