Can anyone tell me if there is any noticable difference between these two boards in the AST version (bar the colour)

I am looking at getting one and can get this years model about $200 cheaper than the 2013 version.

Cheers

Yeah mate totally new board. Same Nalu stlye outline but 2" wider, slight recessed deck on stance area, slightly bigger at 160L and amazingly 0.5" longer. Now this boards seems to fit nicely into the range between the 9'6" and 11'4" whereas last years was a long 9'6" IMO...

Sorry... are you sure?

The 2012 10'6.5 and the 2013 10'6.5 dimensions look to be exactly the same. It appears that just the colour of the deck as changed and the 2013 is called GS whereas the 2012 is called AST

The boards are identical. The only differences are the paint & deck pad. I had a 2012 11'6" & now have a 2013 11'4" & the deck pad on the 2012 was a bit more coarse. Meaning the 2013 deck pad causes less discomfort on the soles of your feet when out surfing long sessions. I had a 3 hour session of Wednesday on my new board & my feet felt fine afterward. I probably wouldn't have lasted that long on the old 2012 board.

I have a 2010 nalu 11ft 6in. Great board for paddling on Botany Bay and catching small to medium waves. Storage is difficult so thinking of selling for a smaller board. Anyone riding the new 10ft 6.5in nash? Big drop in volume. Will it hold 6ft, 95kg rider? any other sugegstions?

I'm 6'4" and 95kgs and I find it very stable.. You can see at the 1.50 mark in this vid how well it floats me.

It's an awesome board..

thanks muchly. Ive found the build quality of the naish's are great. Not too sure about the raised rails on the deck on the new model. Should be easier to manouvre than the 11'6in.

I'm 87kg, wanted something that was stable, had decent glide, but was still really good for surfing. Bought the 2013 GS model, slid the fin up to the front of the box -and after about three surfs I have to say I LOVE everything about this board. It's been good in slight chop, excellent in glassy waves, and I do a slow scenic flatwater paddle of about 2kms on it some arvos and it's even fun for that too. I think it has been said - but this is a great allrounder.
(Thanks DJ for the vid and your previous comments about the board - it did help with the decision. Maybe Naish could buy you a carton as commission everytime someone says they bought a board after seeing your posts. )

I have been riding my Nalu 10'6.5 for a month or so now and it is awesome!!!

Would highly recommend it to someone who is comming off a Mal. It rides and surfs like a mal and is really stable.

Was down at Byron last week and was surfing 4ft waves off the beach at Suffolk and it went really well. Was easy to get on the waves and once on it rode great.

I am still getting use to changing your feet position to get set for the wave but I'm sure this will come with more practice.

My only gripe is that I wish I had of bought the Wood version but I'm not sure if it would make all that much difference.

There were a couple of board riders out with me and I would have caught at least double what they were catching.
