Hey Crew,

Just a question for all the deep long board owners. What fins are you running in your boards? I'm looking at ordering a 9 x 28 longboard. They come standard with the two side bites a longboard fin box.

I'm not sure if I want to keep this setup or go for a 5 fin setup so I can run a quad or thruster.

Also for anyone with a 9 footer. How do you rate the stability? I currently ride a 107 L 8x29 so 28 wide shouldn't be too much of an issue especially when its going to be around 118L.

I'd simply talk to Simon and ask his thoughts for a custom. He's really responsive to questions. Deep's are sweet!!

FYI, I've got a 4+1 fin set up on my Sunova custom longboard. I hated it as a quad. Was way too stiff with such a long rail line IMO. Thruster with XL sides and L centre was waaay better for me.

Good luck!

Hey mate,

Been emailing Simon back and forth and just ready for crunch time. Pretty I have it all nailed down but thought I'd ask to see what others went with.

agree with ya there hoppo, i think quads suit a fatter board ,i quite like the look of those deeps ...maybe its time to go local

my 9,1 acid ,I converted to a quad ,it was sh1t ,tail was too narrow and made it far too stiff ..I know its not a long board
but it surfs similar to one ,

my 9,11 x 29 insane ,i never ride as a quad ,too stiff .

looking forward to seeing your new board NUG .

Nugdam,

Fair enough, there's no harm in getting them added...

I just know that on my next custom longboard SUP - It will certainly NOT have quad boxes. Thruster or Twin+trailer only.

I'm keen to see the result when it's finished!

Tardy,

Good to hear i'm not the only one!

I was shocked when Simon told me his custom price. I wish I looked into him making a board sooner. Well worth looking into.

As a heavy rider, the first problem I encountered with my longboard is obtaining balance. I feel shaking when standing on the board for a 320LB man.

There is a Deep Longboard for sale near me. 9'1"x30"@116 litres. I have been supping on a Starboard 10'x29"@123 litres which is an amazing board to surf on, can surf a ripple. I am interested in buying the Deep Longboard as it's a bit shorter in length and might a better board to surf on. Just getting some opinions too help me decide if I should add it to my quiver.

Hey mate,

I have a 9x29 116l and love it. It surfs really well and is stable

Cheers Nugdam but the board in question got sold. I want to downsize to 9 ft X 28 as I think it will do me for a longtime. Not sure if I should go custom as yet, Smik have a 9'x28" Longboard but maybe I could get a custom made for similar price. Was yours a custom board or in the range
