Hey guys
Purchased a used Sic RS from a guy interstate. Had Peter from Surfcargo bring it from central coast to QLD.
Collected the board Monday 26th Oct in Currumbin and went for a 30min surf in hip high peely waves, before driving back to Brisbane. Inspected the board and all seemed fine. Scratches and a few paint chips but generally just usual usage marks. Slight delam on the top the size of a fingernail but not much to worry about and an easy repair if gets worse. So all good. Happy. Cloudy day so board didn't get any heat while on roof racks.
Then today went for a 1 hour session on Nudgee river (no swell). Drove the 15 mins home, sunny day, then when taking the board off the car heard quite loud hissing. Left board in the sun and noted water bubbling from both right hand side drain hole edges, and the goretex vent (images attached). Also link to videos....
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LErbsIVV1YeQe_CzVAqSnNCllWPG6eVE?usp=sharingI havent knocked the board or bumped it. The cracks look like general wear and tear. The board is in okay condition albeit clearly well used, as it should be. Contacted the guy and he basically says it wasnt damaged when it left his place. Must have happened since I've had it. I've used it twice so no refunds. I dont believe he knowingly sold the board damaged. He said he doesnt race anymore so its sat in his garage.
I asked prior to purchasing if the board had any repairs/was water tight etc. He said no. But, I bought the board sight unseen. So not much I can do.
Anyway, looks like he wont meet me at all with repairs or anything so I'm left to have it repaired. Would anyone have any experience with this type of crack and location on drain holes? I have repaired dings before and laid glass/resin/repainted etc however this could need to be sanded under the drain hole too, depending on extent of water damage.
Also would be appreciative for repair shop suggestions around Brisbane, GC, SC.
