They haven't let on to it yet, however they do have a lot of boards in development, so maybe we will see one soon.

Yes, it sinks the deck, to reduce the "centre of gravity" of the paddler. Shave the lip off, the deck height doesn't change though...
It may add a tiny bit of strength to the middle of the board though.
Just my thoughts anyway... probably just a case of "6 of 1, half dozen of the other"...

The lip is an interesting point, what I did find, when I was paddling it, is that I used it to "lock" my feet into place and that helped with the stability. The water also run's off well as the deck has a dome gradient to it that allows the run-off down along the sides and out the back
