Just wondering if anyone knows much about the 11ft soft SUP's Anaconda are offering under the brand name 'Comocean' for $599. They are a soft bogie board type design 11'x30" with two internal wooden stringers for stiffness, hard plastic bottom skin with bogie board dense foam on top - no deck pad just the foam. They have a single removable 9" fin. I didn't measure how thick they were but I guess they were about 5" thick. The rails are sharp at the bottom and then go up straight a little and then curve up and over onto the deck. They appear to have the correct nose and tail rocker for a good all around board but then I'm no expert. Come with an adjustable 8.5" alloy paddle and 11' leash.
These appear to be new in the country so there not much info on the net about them as yet, and even Anaconda don't have them on their website yet.
I'm looking at getting my first board for the family holidays and general mucking around but I wonder what are the main drawbacks of this design might be. My other choice from here would be a Naish Nalu 11'4 for $1600 which I am sure is a better board by far. The question really is how much am I going to notice the difference as a beginner.
Especially in 6 months and even more so in two years down the track.
These cheap boards are fine if it's all you can afford and it gets you on the water but resale will be very hard and in time it will start to fall apart.. and the difference in paddling performance is like chalk and cheese.
