Hello Brains trust. Moving to the beachfront and want to take up riding waves again after many years.
Wanting your advice on what board's I could consider. I'm 100 kg's 60 years old and want plenty of stability to start with. Not wanting to buy new board just a second handy. Plenty for sale around. Thanks in advance I'm on Sunshine Coast if anyone has anything they wast to move on. I thought 10'6 to 11'0

10' x 32". If you are riding points mainly, mal nose, if beach or reef usually, go pointy nose.

Naish nalu or similar for an all rounder with a mal nose. Starboard wide point / wedge for a pointy nose equivalent.

Plenty of choice for both of this style. I started on a waterborn evoke 10' carbon. Can usually find em pretty cheap.

There was a carbon Evoke 10x32 for sale for $400 odd bucks in Qld

I got a new carbon evoke, same sup, for my husband when he first got into sup surfing and he loved it and progressed quickly.

Can't go wrong for the price and you will progress quickly and enjoy your surf supping on this sup.

A Sunova One is pretty spot on too mate. I've got a 9'5" xxx one that i might sell soon... but i'm in vicco.

I'm 100kg so maybe yours a bit light for me hey.

Starboard 10' 6" widepoint. Wide enough for you not to fall off all the time while standing waiting in chop and enough glide to catch the smallest waves. Early morning 500mm waves are magic. No need to go out in big things but you still can. You are quite heavy so as you noted volume is important. If you can pick up a carbon one its just a little bit nicer than the pinetec or starlight. Even a Sb whopper is fun. You will quickly want a couple but dont get under 10 ft. 9 6 are great but you need bigger waves and thats frustrating as its lots of effort to get back out and you exhaust yourself then fall in all the time. Cruising in on glassy morning windless days just off your front lawn will be wonderful. SB Blends are ok too but a little less stable but nice to paddle along the beach. I tried a Big Easy but they are just a bit too big .70 and 84 kg is I.

Yes totally understand I've had a few board like 12.6 fanatic for training and still have it. I also bought Ron House 12 footer when the sport just arrived in Australia. That was ok for waves but too long. Will I want to go 10'0 after having 10'6 for a short time ?

no, 10' or 10'6" is perfect for smaller waves - either way is fine. If anything boards like these are keepers.
