Bravo double cylinder 28psi pump ??

Has anyone tried the new Bravo double cylinder hand pump. It claims to be able to pump to 28 psi easily. But then again they make the same claim for their smaller psi pumps and they ain't exactly easy!

keen to hear any reviews.

Are you referring to their double action pump ? (pushing air on both up and down strokes)

I've been testing the Bravo double action SUP pump for the past 3 months.

Pros :
Faster to pump to about 7psi
The attached and recessed gauge in the top is a great idea
You can deflate (remove more air than pushing out alone) meaning you can make the SUP smaller when you're traveling

Cons :
after about 7psi you will want to remove the bung and make it single action,
but with only this small bung removed there isn't enough air coming in so you find your self fighting the pump on every up stroke and wasting energy

I find this is a major flaw and I won't be ordering any of these pumps.

I thought Waiting 4wind was refering to a Bravo pump similar to the RedAir Titan ie 2 cylinders.

I think Bravo make virtually all inflatable SUP pumps, including those for brands like Red Paddle etc. So a Red Paddle pump is a Bravo pump.

I ended up buying the new Red Air Titan Twin Cylinder pump. The bravo had a single cylinder (as in the post above) but must have had a way to block off half of it internally.

The red air has a fat tube and a skinny tube. You use both tubes for the high volume pumping and then the skinny tube for the high pressure work.

Like any manual pump it's still a workout, albeit for only half the time it would normally be. It is definitely quicker and easier than the single cylinder pump I've been using. I'm now actually pumping to 18-20 psi whereas previously I don't think I ever made it past 10 or 12.

The pump is a little more bulky but still just fits in the Red Air Bag. When you go to high pressure, ie. release the fat cylinder it does snort like a bull when that air is bled off by the valve.

The single-cylinder pump I think you were referring to is a double-action pump that can be switched to single-action via a lever, or removal of a plug. It doesn't block off half of it - what happens is it can be switched from pumping on both the up and the down stroke (double-action), which is good for high volume/low pressure, to only pumping on the down stroke (single action), better for low volume/high pressure.


In any case, the Titan design has got to be better.
