Hi all,

New to SUP and looking for a board suited to small-mid sized surf. I weigh around 55kg.

Currently using a Tropical Blends 9'2 but need something more bouyant/easier to turn.

Will consider anything from 9'2 to about 11'6, but am basically after the shortest possible board that still offers decent stability for a beginner surfer. Not too phased about flat water performance.

Appreciate any advice, but feedback from other lightweight riders is especially welcome. Thanks : )

My starboard 8.5 pro is fab, even more stable than the hokua 9, but surfs a bit slower.
You will easily surf an 8.5 or smaller.

Ha ha, I don't know about 'easily' - I'm not exactly the most co-ordinated person out there ; )

Thanks for the tip though - I'll try to find one of the starboards to demo.

try to demo some of the naish hokua range if you can, maybe a 7'8, 7'3, 8'5 as they still have some width, around 28-9 inches and are around 100l. but with ur 55kg you could pretty much surf any board, another option would be to consider a custom, if you go and talk to a shaper they would be able to make a board for you and what you want it for, pretty much just demo as many different boards as you can to get an idea of what you like.

Hi, I weigh 65kgs and surf a Starboard 7'11. It has plenty of float and if I got out in decent surf more often I'd ride something smaller.
