Well my 8 10 Sunova Speed died this past weekend major delam on the bottom,I can't really justify spending 2k US on the two boards I really want Infinty 8.8 blur or Jimmy Lewis 8.5 Destroyer. No demo for boards in my area. The one deal I can get is a brand new S26 Naish Hokua GTW 9.0 half the price of the other boards. The only worry is it's 28 inches wide the speed was 29 but had such parallel rails the stability wasn't to bad.Anyone riding one of these or maybe had a couple goes on one and would like to comment on the stability etc.

Well the 9'29" LE I have is a great board to surf if not the fastest. Stability is OK in decent conditions.edit I think I'm too light at 70kg, it can feel corky in windy conditions.

Thanks for the input I am right at the top of the weight limit for this board and I don't want to go over 9 ft for this type of board.

Is the delam repairable? My speeed had delam and the repair has held quite well.

The delam is over a third of the bottom of the board with out vac bag equipment it would be very hard to repair also you would have to drill many holes to inject resin. I shouldn't feel to bad as this was one of the first run of speeds out of the factory I think six years old and has held up well. Also one of fastest boards I've ridden

Priorities!!!:
Get the board you want.... NOT the one you think is more affordable.

IMO.... surf gear is ALWAYS worth spending money to get your first choice.

I always sacrificed everything else in my life to get exactly the board, paddle or wetsuit I needed
I haven't paid for a meal in a restaurant since I started SUP surfing..... because gear matters

Yes after thinking about this you are right why regret having a board that may not do what you want.Sometimes those sayings like You can't take it with you are so true. Thanks creek for the nudge to do the right thing.

Sorry to hear about your 8'10" Speeed delaminating. Mine is 6+ years old also and going strong. I wish it would delaminate so I could get an 8'8" Speeed! I surfed a friends 8'8" in the fall and it was love at first turn. I think the Speeed was first released more than 6 years ago. Perhaps I should just take Creek's advice and just order the 8'8".

cheers

What do you weigh? I had that board for several years and it was just fine for me at 95-100kg without wetsuit. Naish have always under quoted their board weight limits
