Hi,
Have the opportunity to buy a 2013 14ft Glide GS, pretty average condition, or wait for the 2015 version.
No 2014 GS left new in NZ.
My question is, 2014 a big leap forward on the 13 ?
If yes, then unless there is a big drop in the asking price, $1700 NZ, I'll wait for 2015 model.
Thanks,
Simon.

6'2' and between 80 to 90 depending on season ;-)
I've a nalu 11'6" at present, which I'll be keeping.
Have just paddled the Glide, very different obviously.
Much easier to paddle.

If you were a light weight and short I'd be thinking the old 2013 Glide is a good choice because it's such a good board.. The problem is that's it's not so good for bigger paddlers (over about 85kg) because it's only 27" wide.. has a narrow/pointy nose.. and the extra nose rocker makes the board a little tippy in confused water and not that fast in flat water.. That's where the new shape Glide shines with the extra width.. lower nose that is not as narrow/pointy.. So for you I'd be recommending the new shape (2014).. I don't think the 2015 board will change other than the graphics (maybe).. Another big improvement with the new shape Glide is the big round soft rails in the front half of the board that never catch or cause the opposite rail turning and they also alow you to wide stoke the board to change direction easier while on a runner.. The old board feels faster because it accelerates quicker than the new shape.. but also decelerates quicker.. where the new shape is a little slower to get up to speed but holds it's speed/glide for longer.. The new shape has a very different rocker alowing you to move forward and back on the board more to adjust the amount of nose rocker and also control the boards speed. The old board has an old school rocker and a smaller sweet spot where you can stand.. Anyway.. I'd recommend you (being a bigger guy) try and get the new 2014/2015 board even if you have to wait.. Hope that helps.

Thanks David,
Lots of good info.
Will take your advice, unless price becomes unrefusable ;-)
Guess I'll have to buy a new paddle to make up for it

PS Interestingly board claims to be 29/4" on the bottom in the usual place.
On measurement it's more like 27"

There was a batch that got made wrong.. They had the new 2014 graphics/deck pad/handle and even the new shape dimensions written on the bottom.. but they are the old shape.. See in the pic.. New shape on the left.. old shape on the right.. I have one of each..
