hey mick, I'm a local and probably seen you in the water (although I tend to stay out of town), I was just over at stonker checking out the taro chip, like you I'm interested in how it would ride (and how stable it would be). like the thin rails.... the guys at stonker suggested you might let me have a paddle on the potato chip some time... could swap you my 8 4 L41 simsup (big volume big ass board for all conditions) or 7 10 minion (I'd guess heaps more stable than your 7 8, but still fun). clearly I don't need another board around this size! but it can always be justified, and the thinness and rails have got me interested.... let me know if it might be possible and if so i'll follow up. cheers, dools

Gday Dools, keen to try both those boards and no problem you having a go on the potato chip. I go out any day it's surfable, generally at Torquay Point or Point Danger somewhere but open to suggestions depending on conditions. I'll pm you with my mobile and we can do some demoing.

Extra incentive for getting a Blue Planet board. If you buy one after Oct 1 and before I think end of Jan, you can go in the drawer for a trip to Hawaii.

Mick, sorry you are right, the All good model is 8'8 x 32", not 8'2.

Thanks guys, I demoed the taro chip the other day. It was a lot of fun and is now on my want list, which keeps getting longer for some strange reason.

How does that wide ass thin railed girl go in the more solid stuff? Will it bottom turn and bury a rail on a decent wave with out having to take on ballast? Certainly looks sweet, and at 123L will it support a 90kg person?

The Blue Planet website says that the Potato Chip handles decent sized waves... Check it out.

if if I could be more helpful I would. I have had my Pototo chip out at about four foot at Noosa and Mudjimba... It went really well. Surf in Vic (West coast) has been pretty average and dominated by prevailing winds from the south which is onshore.
If I lived somewhere that was offshore and 8 foot I could probably give you a report. Micmac has had his out on some really good days at Torquay and seems pretty stoked with its performance. I hope that helped.

I have had the 8'8" allgood for 6 weeks now, after coming off the 8'8" sunova speed. Allgood 32" wide Speed 28.5" wide.
Dodgy knees forced me off the speed. Both these boards surf well, fast down the line and manouverable.
The speed gets into waves more easily, more forgiving if you are not quite in the right spot, it tends to surf better off the back foot, like a mini mal. The allgood seems to respond more quickly with weight changes and has good rail to rail transition - for me the paddling out and waiting out the back was really hard on my knees on the narrower board.
The allgood surfs more like a short board and is still a challenge - getting better and better. stats -- 85kilos and 1.78

Hi Bobajob, I'm not sure how big you mean when you say big stuff but I've had the potato chip out in double overhead plus a few times and it was great. If you're talking bigger than that then I'm not sure how it would go. There's not much rocker so you need to get that back foot back before the wave comes on a late take off or you're going to eat it. The beauty of the low rocker though is it makes it very fast so you can get in early and also position yourself quickly when you see the sets coming. I've found that up to about head high it works best as a quad but over that it's best to swap out the back fins and put a 7" mal fin in the centre. This board is so quick you need to take out some of the skatiness in the more powerful stuff. The bigger centre fin gives you more bite and control but it's still quick. The rails are sweet and perfect for a bigger wave.

Thanks for all the feed back. I'd say Double OH would be my "big stuff". Must be the thinner rails on the PC that let it bite.

Just spent a week in Hawaii and hired 2 x Blue Planet boards ( a 10'10" HP Zen Master for me & a 10'2" Easy Model for my daughter) for the week, averaged at US$24/per day, per board for 5 x days.
We stored the boards in the "Nalu Board" lockers on Kalakaua Ave (US $25/week, per board) and the boards were at our disposal 24/7 with a 30 metre walk to Waikiki.
The hire boards were in excellent condition.
They had a high quality, extremely professional finish ...very impressive.
Loved the handle, so easy to carry.
I'm assuming the double leash plug maybe for those who surf the "BIG WAVES" on the North Shore as the original Blue Planet store is in Oahu.
Losing a board on the North Shore could be dangerous for others as well as having to endure the swim back in.

My daughter and I are just learning to surf, so the long rolling waves at Waikiki were ideal.
I found the 10'10" HP Zen Master to be very stable especially for my weight at 120kgs and had no trouble in the Waikiki rolling surf.
I'm now contemplating getting rid of my "Sup Love" (11'2" x 29") and upgrading to a blue planet board, just loved the stability and the ease of catching a wave.

Overall first impression, excellent quality, professionally finished board with an extensive range to suit all SUPers and prone surfers.

I am looking at getting my first SUP and was about to order a 9'2" Carbon Evoke until I read the comments on here about the Blue Planet Fun Stick, really like the photos & the comments from the OP

Going to go and have a look at one tomorrow and would like to know what people think about the Fun Stick and possibly some sort of comparison between it and the Evoke.
