Used the Ohana 3 piece travel paddle for a o/s trip but still prefer ke nalu . So next trip taking it and hot glue setup .

Nice paddle, beautiful blade and handle but makesure you get the right size for your weight and height. Otherwise your shoulder will suffer the consequences. The blade has a nice grab and entry and exit is nice. How much do you weight and height or perhaps ask bp for advise?

Yes. Was fortunate to try a demo hydro when in Maui.
Really liked it but after speaking to Chris Freeman - the founder - I ended up getting a Lava as I mostly surf beach breaks.
If you are interested in BP - definitely drop Chris a line by phone or email.
He will tell you what to go for and help you get the sizing right.

I have been using a Black Project Hydro 83 with medium flex shaft for about 18 months. It is my favorite of all paddles I have ever tried. Light, strong and my paddling has improved considerably. I am 6' and 75kg.

I'm 6'4" and 85kg and use a BP Hydro 88 with Stiff shaft. Love it. Great catch, I don't get any flutter and easily do 10kms a couple of times a week without shoulder soreness. Chris is awesome to deal with and happily exchanged multiple emails with me to get ensure he answered all my questions and provided me with the right setup.

In my opinion I think your spot on about selecting medium blade 83sq and I reckon slim shaft for really long distance paddling though your height will get away with standard shaft. You might also get away with 88sq blade if your doing short distance or sprints or you need more power grab. As I said ask bp for 2nd advise.
