Hi All, I'm on a 9ft, 29" wide Starboard pro carbon and looking to go next level of performance - ideally shorter and more manoeuvrability. Any suggestions on a good option for short board surfing feel while still getting a bit of glide into the wave (based in NZ and my local area lacks breaks that have consistent take off points so good to get onto the wave early). Cheers, Matt

Yeah was thinking that, reckon you can go 8.3-8'5 and get better glide than other boards that length?

I have the 711 and 88 and both have good glide .
The 711 can be a bit tippy with there is side chop or back wash

I'd say no to the Speed. I didn't find it glidey (i've owned 2). Easy to paddle though. The square wide nose can catch in critical maneuver's... The tail channels give lots of hold and drive. I'd argue too much sometimes. Needs a steep wave to work.

You want something slightly 'fishy' so you get easy speed but can still go vert and hit the lip hard.

I'd prefer an Infinity B Line over a Speed. Straight(ish) rail line for speed, wider, flatter nose for paddling, lots of tail rocker for ripping. Little flyer in the tail to break the outline, so snaps etc are easy.

If looking at Sunova I'd look more towards the Sunova Wedge GenRation...

Good luck.
