At 83kg begginer surf sup this board was my limit for its size and volume 9'2" x 32" x 150lt 11kg (web specs).
The board surf's well once your on the small wave and it felt like a long board as I can easly walk back and forward ok. However, most of the time I'm on my knees from the start then stand up to surf because of the weight it sink/tippy and I can't hardly balance standing up and paddle on windy/rough condition however when there's no wind its fun. I tested the Fanatic 9' x 32 x 159lt x 10kg Allwave (web specs) and this board had extra 10ltr and 1kg less and it felt more stable and I can stand up surf no probs compare to the BIC board.
The advantage with the BIC performer is the toughness of the board outer PVC shell and you dont have to worry about accidently drop it or hit something hard or your kids/friends couldn't care about your precious ;)
I dont think those expensive carbon or fibre glass board like accidental or abuse though maybe the carbon board ;)
Look for a bargain/2nds/demo if want a second board to trash around and share with others.

Jeg , I agree the bic are tough as nails but you do know the fanatics do a high resistance skin which is cheaper then their full carbon boards. And even better the basic model the pure is hrs cheaper again just without the fancy paint job oh one more thing the fanatic will make any beginner look better then they are it's such a easy to use board

Indeed the fanatic allwave pure was nice and I would though I will have to wait an see and test ride others JP, Naish & Starboard demo day ;)

a bic is a good tough board.......some of the other fancy boards that sleep in your bed and you pamper big time are also fun :)

The PVC bics are nice for beginners, the only issue is that some has sharp edges on the joint on the rail, and people scrape their skin on it climbing back on the board. A gentle sanding to round the edges is recommended.

Colas, i agree with you i learn on the BIC AST 10.6 and the sharp edges you must pay as beginners some scrape after that sanding and not big issue.

For surf they are good is more like longboard paddle, the only bad i see is when you falling and tried to recover the board take a lot energy but and the end all what we need is exercise.

Is the one paddle that is alway convenient to have for use and shared with friends no damage to this boards...!!

thanks Tardy that board looks nice and I also like that Nalu carbon pro 10' and I can't wait to test these boards and they better harry up coming to VIC ;)
