I saw the wave pool,just wondering about the beach...as far as waves go from what I can gather is the new islands have stopped a lot of the waves.

Yes, I SUP surf in Dubai. Correct, island development has stopped most of the waves, but there are still some decent spots within the city. Venturing out to other Emirates also provides some secluded secret spots....not to mention our neighbor Oman that has some excellent waves.

There is waves even in Red Sea, in late 70' every morning when i climb to my formwork job up building site in jeddha, saudia arabia , i can see a long point 6' right hand wave rolling by in the morning glass.
Now Google earth shows a jetty in place of the point
But i didn't know about SUP, I was just surfing
