Hi, I am considering buying a Hobie Raw CM LB 9'8" and am wanting feedback from anyone who has ridden this board or either of the other 2 sizes. Unfortunately there is no demo available. I would appreciate all and any comments, thanks.

FYI, I currently surf a Starboard Drive 10'5".

Hi Kenny, I havent seen anyone riding one. I did however speak to a guy last year at the Inverloch Vic sup weekend and he worked for a Hobie dealer somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula, I think it was Frankston? Somebody might have more info about them and I'm sure that they would be able to help you with information on the board. It might be a better idea to go for one of the more easily accessible/better known boards? I would even consider a local custom board builder who could shape a board similar to the Hobie? Just a couple of ideas, sorry I couldn't be of more use to you.

I have seen the Dutch dealer of Hobie riding his Hobie RAW LB 9.0.
Beautiful looking board and light.
The shape looks a bit thicker as usual what s fine in our slower dutch windswell waves.
It did not catching any faster the waves as they other boards (I paddled a WP8.10 and later a Starboard 8.5Pro) and the thicker nose LOOKS like a limit to me in a bit steeper and faster waves, but thats just guessing and also a matter of riding style.
the guy has more a longboard style making mellow lines and for that the board works very well.

Thanks fellas, I have seen video of the french guy, but only from a go pro on the board. Not a great perspective to see how well a board is working.

The standard 8" 11" CM is about the best wave riding SUP I have tried to date. It is one of the few shorter SUPs with the carve, drive and aceleration I am after. If you ask me they are underrated. Just wish I had one!

This may be an old thread. I owned and rode a 10'6" Hobie CM LB Raw and recently traded it in on a Hobie 9'8" CM L B Raw as the larger one was too fast to noseride properly. However, they are great boards and incredibly light for their size. Have been riding the 9'8" this winter in all conditions and would highly recommend either. Unfortunately Hobie has discontinued the CM LB series in the Raw construction but are still available in another lay up. I can't imagine what they cost you blokes down under!

Just purchased an 8'4" raw last w/end, only surfed in crap both days, but I already love what it can do. It's a real shame Hobie have discontinued line of LB style raw.

Looks like the Hobie CMLB's are still available in the raw vector net construction!

I have the 10'6" stock 30" wide version and the 32" version.....one of them actually belongs to my wife.

Not surprisingly, the 30" version surfs the hell out of the 32"....much faster down the line and way more responsive, for me it's a 10'6" short board which unfortunately isn't really why I bought it to begin with.

At my height/weight the bigger 32" is the superior nose rider with more volume/width in the nose..... though I'm a hack nose rider anyway so take that for what it's worth.

All that being said, I prefer surfing the 30".....just more fun.

Construction is top notch, super-light and much tougher and more durable than I expected.

Ake my friend. Your link is to 2013 Hobie site. 2014 CM LB Raw extinct. But a certain shop in NH can have one made for Huge Sums!
