Started SUP last July and riding a YOB Osprey 8'4" x 28.5" 110L now (down from a JP Wide Body Surf 8'2").
Last week, I was down in Sanur and rented a SG 8'7" for a few hours. Waves were only 2-3 ft but glassy. The SG is very stable and fast paddling out, glide and tracked very well - which was useful considering that the reef was like 1km from shore! The SG was extremely easy to paddle into a wave, the deck grip was superb and riding along, up and down a wave was easy and fun. For my weight (63kg), the SG 8'7" was almost like trimming a long-board when riding out a wave down to knee height. Loved it! I suspect it will be a great all-round board for Perth conditions (1-4 ft).
Would have loved to try the SG more but the tide conditions over next 2 days did not allow me to squeeze in SUP sessions in the morning :(
If you are in Bali, you can always arrange with Jankie to hook you up with one of his JL boards jankie@bali-kitesurfing.org
