Hiya,
I've had an 8'2" wide surf carbon since October and love it, I'm 80kg (depending on how many beers the night b4) and find the board very stable and easy to surf. As not a huge fan of quads it took a bit to get it set up how I liked, but in smaller surf I have medium size c-drives in the front and standard m5s in the back, for bigger surf I put the large c-drives in the front.
I find these fins give it a bit more drive off the bottom thus more of a thruster feel, if you're a 4 fin fan I'd go with some stiff M5s all around.
This board is all about fun, in small surf you can slide it around and still pick up waves easy, in surf over 5 foot, a bit of care has to be taken not to slide out on the bottom turns.
john west you should have got the 7'4 at your weight.
anyway i got the 7'4. after playing around with fins i'm settled on these
i don't like my boards sliding around too much.
i got this board for beachies and didn't expect to us it much.
however it become the board i grab out of the garage 9 times out of ten. stable at my weight of 83 kgs, paddles' way gooder'

then i expected. goes over foam better than a wide nose board should. kick turns on a dime which is a major plus when you have to fight with a crowd
catching waves was a bit different but i got used to it. you can hang in a steep pocket and play with a board of this lenght, get vertical and you would really have too be trying hard to nose dive it.
and one of the big attractions for me is the different turning arc's from most 8'6, 8'8 and 8'10 i have ridden, and being able to put the board up there.
i couldn't be bothered tripping around on normal width 8' type boards, but this board is pretty easy and a bucket load of fun
fun factor 9 out of ten and with my fin set up it still 'goes'
cheers
