Hi, I really would appreciate some advice.
I currently am riding a 9'2 PSH aa that i've had for the past 2 years, its a really
fun board and is 29 1/2 wide x 4.5 thick.

Im really looking for a board now that is shorter and more manouravable. Im 73-74kg and was strongly considering one of the pocket rckets from starboard. Most of the time im surfing in anything from 1ft up to 4ft sometimes bigger. Although I realize im fairly light im not looking for a toothpick of a board that only perform in really good surf because a lot of the time the waves are more crumbly than hollow. I really enjoy noseriding and both the pocket rockets seem to have wider noses suitabe for this.

Anyway if anyine who has or has ridden one of these boards could tell me what you think of them that would be great.

I've ridden the PR in AST Silver & really liked it! Being 6'2" & 100kg I was surprised at how stable it was & it surfs fantastic.

I've been riding a 2009 SB pocket rocket for the past year and am the same weight as you. It's very stable and is a great nose rider yet if you go back on the tail it really rips .... super maneuverable (I've got SA quad fins in it which are great). It's also good in those side shore/onshore mushy conditions. It weighs 9.5 kg so is also very light compared to most boards (not the carbon fibre ones though obviously) As with all boards there is a downside to going smaller, and this is you will lose glide so it's harder to catch fatter waves and you have to work a bit harder to travel long distances ..... good exercise though!

Im riding the 9-5 Wide Point from Starboard and how shall I put this, although I am short I do extend to generous proportions (anything up to about 110kg). The 9-5 is 150 litres (and a very generous 150 at that). I am going to go to the 8-10 Wide Point just to get that bit shorter. The 8-10 has 143 litres I think and once again I would suggest a generous 143. Im a big SB fan when it comes to boards that work and are stable, easy to paddle and quite robust. I personally reckon this comes from the sailboarding background where they have to design and build boards that they know will work for a majority of us numpties but also be high performance enough for a pro to get onto and use. This 'practice' has meant that when it came to the whole SUP thing they had their stuff all in one sock. The other beauty with SB is the amount of construction types for each board, so you can go AST, Wood or carbon and know that you are getting a great product each time. This is not a pimp and I am not sponsored by anyone, mainly because Im old and fat, but I just tell myself I am not selling out :)

I tried the pocket rocket (130L) a few times in small waves and it's a lot of fun.
I have the starboard converse (137L) wich is ok but the PR reacts much better to your movements in waves but also when getting ready for a wave that is coming.
I surf in the same conditions as you do and went for the surf pro 9'x29 118L because the converse feels too much like a longboard. Also going from a converse to a PR would be a small step.

I can't say much about the 7'11 120L but I think there won't be a big difference between these boards. stability would be similar only the 7'11 will turn a bit better and the glide will also be better.

Stability in the 7'11 the same as the 8'5 pocket rocket? Narrower and shorter doesn't lead to more stability .... and as to glide the PR is no star but would certainly glide better than the 7'11. If you check the starboard website the 7"11 rates 2.5 out of ten for both stability and glide versus the PR which scores 4.5 out of 10..... nearly twice as good.

in other words : go for the pocket rocket you will love it!
