Hi,
I'm looking at buying a new adjustable paddle, either a Naish Makani 8.0 95sq or a Fanatic Innegra 90sq.
I have heard that the Naish can take in water, as well as the clamp dosent hold well enough and the upper shaft can slip down into the lower. And seeing the Fanatic uses the same clamp I am worried that that one can twist as well as slip down.

To those who have had experience with these adjustable paddles I'd love to hear both your good and bad experiences.
And whether or not you recommend them.

Thanks,
Ken.

The 2014 Naish adjustable has the anti-twist system which is way better than the previous clamp. It can't rotate and will not move down provided you have tensioned clamp correctly. It works. It does take in a little water, but so do all adjustable paddles....

I haven't seen the Fanatic paddle as yet.

I had one snap at the handle and splinter as I was catching a wave and took some skin off as it stabbed into my arm pit! Ill never have an adjustable one again

The anti-twist is good but I don't think Naish nailed as well as they could have with this paddle. The clamp has to be done up pretty tight not to slip, so the little tab handle tends to sit up proud of the join - just a tiny bit, but enough to notice. I've already mentioned the water here: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Review/Fanatic-Carbon-Innegra-paddle/
Contrary to your comment Peter, I find my old Naish Makani paddle is virtually waterproof.

Have had 2 adjustable paddles one a cheap eBay brand and one of the big name brands . They were great for getting my paddle length sorted but both took on water and both developed a wobble in the handle .
I am not that rough on my gear so I would reckon the wobbly handle must be a pretty common complaint ?

Now use a fixed length .

I got the Naish full carbon adjustable.

Nice and light (should be)

The hand grip, not the shaft, takes on water. Only noticeable after about 1 hr in the surf when I have fallen in plenty of times.

The shaft doesn't slip, but I had to tighten the clamp up pretty tight to achieve this.

I have the Naish Makani 8.0 95sq, it has the anti twist so a new model. It gets a little bit of water in it but not enough to make it too heavy or a problem, the shaft can slip a little but maybe 10mm over an hour of surfing. Bottom line I'm happy with it.

Have a Kailoa adjustable, no water in it, and rock solid with their one of a kind adjuster ( no brand has this adjuster in the handle). Just rinse the shaft with fresh water after every use, and your paddle stays as new.
