Well I umm'd and ahhhh'd, and finally bit the bullet on one of these, picking it up around Christmas time. I was keen on a 28 wide, but it didn't have enough volume to float my fat ar5e, so I settled for the 30. I went the XXX tec as I love the balsa, and 2 + 1 fin set up. I didn't want to mess with the formula any more than that.

Having surfed the 10' x 28" for a while, I knew these boards worked extremely well, but I have to say when I unboxed it and saw the quite wide nose, I was a little taken aback. Would this fatty work for me? Would it catch me out on a dredgy wall?

I have surfed this board in just about all conditions from 1 foot rollers to double overhead, and it's only thrown me violently once. That was yesterday afternoon, and I was being a smartar5e taking off too far on the inside, pushing the boundaries. I was overdue to be humbled anyway.

The thing that I love most about this board is the stability. It keeps me chilled, and that helps to set up for the next wave and just bloody enjoy it. For a quite wide mal shape it carves off the tail, really gets up and boogies. I was a little hesitant to go too far up on the nose, as I found that it would make quite a strange side to side swinging motion. As I got to know the board a bit better I realised this only happened at low speeds, when a 100kg gorilla had no business being up there anyway. At higher speeds the trim is exceptional, and I can get 5 over the nose. Just!

It is as it looks; a super fun board, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm sure I'm pi55ing everyone else off as it is super easy to get on a wave, only just behind the 10 footer. Really easy to paddle back out, and punch the nose through an oncoming wave too. I was expecting to get smacked in the snout, but not to be.

The magic with the revolution lies in the super fine parallel rails, and the hard edged pin tail.

The new Sunova deck grip with all the little bumps is also a winner, I love it. Super grippy but not too harsh. The build is also very tolerant to a large bloke known to be hard on the gear. I did put rail tape on this one, so I can lay it down wherever on whatever, a tip I picked up from "Creek". Getting older?

I believe that having some excess body weight might also help the performance of this board. Gotta be good for something, right?

Hey Brendo, glad to see you are so stoked with the board. I have been out a couple of times on my 9x28, once in perfect conditions. It will take a few surfs to find the sweet spot as I found I missed a few of waves. I have 6.5 centre with 4.5 side bites but I think if I had a onger rear single fin I would have had more bite in the take off zone. I am only 70 kgs and maybe you are right about the extra kgs as I'm sure this would have also got more bite in the zone. Cheers

Brenno... Can you give some more thoughts on the fins your are using on the board. I have the same and only been paying with Quobbas but looking to try as a single fin.

Bomberdave, love the quobbas but these are my go to revo single fins....

Each to their own. Not for everybody, but I love them.....

Did it take long for the custom to arrive once ordered?
