Anyone have a 3 piece Werner or Naish? I'm wondering about whether or not the individual sections are equal in length (to get an idea whether I can fit it in checked in luggage to avoid excess or oversize charges..) .
The overall maximum length of the paddle would be 81" .

Thanks

Thanks John...

My thought was that maybe I could find a 3 piece that had a longest section length of about 30". - then it would fit diagonally in one of our suitcases. I did find out that the Werner Fiji 3 piece's blade section was 35" - so too long. I'm wondering about the higher end Werners or the Naish. I checked the QB, and it was also too long.

I'll probably have to take my Ke Nalu and unglued it - that way I can pack the blade and check the shaft as excess luggage. (Flying f$&@ing Air Canada from Vancouver to Maui... Cheap fare, but retarded baggage policy . )

Thanks anyways.

Cheers

Thanks airsail. Looks like the Werners are also about that long too. I'll just have to find a new bag to accommodate a paddle. And fit the airlines anal retentive size restrictions.

I have a Werner nitro 3pc and will measure it ASAP. Got a special bag made up for it.

Thanks Briskites...

So I'm guessing the overall max length is determined by how long the centre section is..
Is it supplied uncut , ie. can it be cut down if you don't need that much adjustment, or is it
Supplied in increments like the Werners?

I'm thinking another option is for me to buy a Makani 3 pc at the Naish pro centre in Kahului. (Too bad you guys are in Oz ,and I'm in Canada .... I should move..)

The Werner nitro 3pc.....

Here's the breakdown of sections showing the sleeves and shafts. All adjustment comes from the top section - the bottom section only has one setting, while the top has about 4 settings to give you adjustability of about 115mm (my imperial tape's in the car). The sleeve for the ajustable section is about 190mm long or so for strength.

Here's the bag. The beauty of this is that you can cram a whole lot more gear in here that can also pad/protect the paddle. Last year we went to the Maldives and all I took was boards, carry-on backpack and this bag chockers.

That was meant to be the attach button....

and the bag cost about $90 custom. I should have made it 20mm longer.

It's good, but they made the centre shaft just that little bit too long to fit in a standard suitcase, but mine is the second longest you can get.
