I was told that it was flat water only and not so good when the chop comes. I've only had one short go on it (i wasn't paddling it in the video) Very stable for the width, feels as comfortable as the Maliko and seemed to handle the chop well. The nose really pierces and doesn't slow when punching through chop. The bumps as always were bigger than they look on the video and there was some backwash from rocks so it was multi directional bumps at times. its not as boxy as the 2015 and deck is more recessed (more than the Maliko) Not sure when we will get any glassy water to really try it

Ok thanks .I have a friend who want to buy my 2015 GX ,28 javelin .just wonder if it is better .and worth the up date .

what I am thinking .@26 and only rated for a 95 kg guy .....maybe the 28 maliko might be my best option ...

Can't compare. I have the 14 x 24 at 88 kgs. I first thought the board was unstable. But due to the recessed deck, you will found your stability back in no time. My other raceboard which hasn't a recessed deck is more tippy, Aqua Inc 14 x 24/23,5, weighs about 1.00 kgs less as my Javelin 2017. I like the construction verry much of the new Javelin: not so prone to damages as the former Javelin. Bought the new race paddle too, but haven't had any time to try that one.

I paddled the 2017 jav 26 wide yesterday. Stable (like everyone says about every board) glides so nicely. Pick up runners/ boat wake nicely. Took it into the surf zone out of the mouth of the alley handled well. No deck grip or anything to grip when getting back was a slippery challenge though.

24 would be the pick being a flat water board though

Yes you are right about the lack of deck grip, it is a very short deck pad but I guess as its designed as a flat water board they aren't expecting people to be standing on the back except for turning when a quick wipe with wax should do (keeps weight down as well) The board in the video is the 24" and at 87kg i felt comfortable on it

Looks like the Maliko for me ...I do surf mine a bit .

A harder test of the Javelin yesterday. Surfed well on the bumps.

Pretty good for a 24" wide board. It would be good to see the 14x26 in those conditions, it might be a fairer test. Not many people would use a 14x24 flat water-oriented board in those conditions, surely? The paddler must have good balance.

I'd like to try one of these.

nice effort on a flat water 24" wide board. As Area10 said would be interesting to see the javelin & maliko in a 26" width to the test.

2017 jav is very much a different board it's a new shape.

apparently the Jav is for flat and calm water days and the jav maliko is for rough ocean days and faster downwind.

Nose of the 2017 Javelin is more in the water as the 2016 version. You have to stand to the front to get the nose in, the board will benefit from it, faster.The 2017 is even more stable because of the more recessed deck, therefore there is also less water on the deck, why? I don't know, they nailed it shapewise. So you are standing less in the water, handy especially in colder conditions as we have here in Europe. I have a 14x24 and didn't even have to adapt. First I waa a little tensed to get on such small board, but this one is stable for its width. I found the Naish fin too small for flatwater tracking, less strokes per side. So I ordered a VMG time trial. Get this one next monday.

the nose looks like a cross between the 2015 javelin and the glide .It still has the boxy rails like my 2015 .
The recess looks great ,i also had to change my fin, too small .thanks for the pic,looks like its a .great flat water SUP.

Looks like your water is very flat .
It is not often we get water like that even in the harbour, luckily the Javelin is appears to be a versatile board.
