Anyone seen or ridden a lokahi concept sup? Looks like a Tomo/ vanguard style board. Was considering the jp slate but price is restrictive! Ha.
I am 87 to 90 kegs I think they have a 8,3 x 28 121 litre and a 7,9 x 27 108. What size??!

They look pretty snappy!

I will just make one comment - if you are relatively new to sup, like I am, i.e. less than ~2 years, and don't have cat-like balance, then I would not go below the 8'3" as I have a 124 ltr Minion which is a similar shape (7'10" x 29" x 4 3/8) and I still find it unstable unless the conditions are pretty good. I am also 90 kegs (and 6'3"). If it is choppy I personally find it hard to turn to go for the wave and when I start paddling hard I often dig the nose - but I have only had 5 sessions (12 hours or so) in the water.

As cantSUPenough says, the recommended sizes varies a lot with your age and SUP experience...

The concept is a great board, I am not a great surfer but this board makes me feel like I am actually surfing. When its on the wave it's stability increases and I have got away with a lot I wouldn't have on my other boards. The 8'3 floats my 89kg as long as it isn't too choppy. These boards have been out for a couple of years now, ahead of some of the big brands and have been under the radar as a small brand

How much is the weight ? Can't find it on the homepage. How is the construction is it sensitive or bulletproof? Never heard of the brand.

Thx

It is the brand of a local French Kiteboard specialist, Cyril Costes, who founded Triple-C, one of the earlier French Kite Schools.
Lokahi started SUPs some years ago with a line of short, very wide nosed boards, and evolved progressively into various shapes.

I never saw them in real life, so I have no idea on how they perform, as he is based in Dunkerque, far from me in France, and most of his customers are in the north/west of France or in the French west indies.
They are made in China, but not computer designed (they are shaped by a chinese shaper) as far as I can read in his interview in the paper version of http://www.getupsupmag.com/

I' have tried 5 years ago one proto 7' around 29" landed by Cyril. This board i swooped for few wave had already a very close shape of this today one , square nose and wide tail; only Rocker seems different . Was riding 6'9"29" pointed nose both buoyancy by this time and I find this square nose incredibility stable compared to mine pointed one.
Like from other brands SUPshapes involve with credibility given by customers more by their balance abilities . So Blanderson , 108 liters is a very good board for your 90 kg

Yesterday "Flo" posted a mini review (in French) of the 7'3"x25"x90l at www.gong-galaxy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=97689

The interesting point is that Flo has been riding ShortSUPs (6'4", 6'10") for some years now, and unlike what most people will experience, the Lokahi was thus longer than his regular boards, and thus he had mixed feelings, as the goal of these shapes is to remove the nose, not add more...

French guy out this way rides one and seems to think its a good balance between stability and manoeuvrability for our often less than perfect waves. Looked well made.
