Hey guys,

I'm new here and picked up a new fanatic allwave. I was looking at the 2013 model but when I saw the 2014 I had to get it instead.
Had my first surf on it today and from a beginners point I view I found it a a breeze.
I was a bit reluctant to go the 9"1 over the 9"6 being I weigh 90kgs but I found it was unreal!

Jason - there's a lot of guys interested to get good pics of this board. Any chance you can do some more pics - tail, side view and rocker? Go on - share the stoke!

I had my first surf on the same board today. It felt more loose compared to the 9'10 that I have come off. I look forward to trying it in better surf. It has no trouble carrying my 100kg. I trialed the other boards from the allwave collection and some prowaves, but I preferred this board because I knew the allwaves are bomb proof and reasonably priced. Paddled the 8'11" and it seemed to be as stable as my 9'2" Allwave. I have no doubt unless you are over 110 kg the 8'11" would be just as good. It would really be interesting to see what someone like Keahi could do on an 8'2" Allwave. With the fin set up I have now I can't imagine finding more than 10% improvement on a wave! Basically just a little more verticality perhaps and little more speed out of the pocket? As I keep on saying it's 90% surfer and 10% board. I must admit it's fun taliking about the endless possibilities!!! (Just bought a 'Laguna Bay' TSJ custom) I cannot wait!

Au contraire leroy... I rode the 9'2 same day as my 8'10.... no comparison. The 8'10 is a geometric rise in performance over the 9'2.

Hi STC are we talking the same boards here, cause ours are 9'1" and 8' 11" squaretails (2014) not the 2013 Fishtails 9'2" and 8'10"? Plus the fins I'm running in the 9'2' make an absolute huge difference.. As i've said I'm not quite sure why I'm buying another board. The 8" Fluid foils centre with ball bearings instead of a screw to to tighten is brilliant. I can adust it in the water in 30 seconds. The Truames twin 7"s that I'm using as sidebiters means no slipping down the face of hollow waves. Surfed 3 times since my hip op 4 and half weeks ago. The last two were the best sessions in 20 years!!. Balance has improved 15% due to no pain in the leg Re read my post as I was talking stability not performance

My partner is looking at the 8'11" and after riding this I could see me swapping it with her if she does get it. I was really surprised how stable this board was.

Hey Jason, I reckon STC only read the first line and a half of my post. The 2014 ( Square Tailed) 8'11" is soooo stable and you can really chuck them around according to STC, though I think he may have a 2013 8'10" Swallow??. My apologies STC if I'm wrong. My mate just bought the 8'6" it might be worth checking that out if your under a 100 kg. The 2014 shapes really look very surf oriented but are still incredibly stable! For some reason people equate stability and float with corkiness. If you press down on a cork it submerges???? There must be a lot of wannabe submarine skippers out there??

I have the 2013 - 8'10...... If you get to surf the 2014 8'11, I'd be real interested to hear your take on the changes.

Creek - we need YOU to get hold of one of the new ones and doa review compared to the 2013....don't think many others know the board as well as you...and your reviews are legendary

Hey Leroy, check out the rail profile of the All Waves compared to pretty much every other high performance board on e market. I don't think it matters who you are the All Wave will never be a high performance board and that is why Fanatic do the Pro Wave.

Who said anything about high performance??? High in fun, yes?? Is that why there are so many pro waves and Hokuas for sale. I sawa video of these guys Supping 7'6" boards which they paddle out prone, sit on like a shortboard and jump up wobble around, paddle like crazy and SUP like a shortboard. Me, I'd just buy a shortboard, but that's just me. Different fins can make a huge difference to offset the rails. Each to his own and you have a large selection to choose from in the second hand listings. Not so large for Allwaves go figure!!! 90% surfer and 10% board. They guy with the biggest smile is the winner, thats usually the one on the wave not in the water climbing on his board

Why else would you want to put someone like Keahi on a board? To see him cruise down the line, like any average surfer or to see him be able to put a board in a position and style that not everyone can?

I imagine there are pro waves and hokuas for sale as they are high performance and the shape and materials they are made of have changed this year and as the people who ride them are looking for performance they are after the latest and greatest and board companies are only going to put out new boards that are better than the old ones.

I agree with you re super short boards, if you can't stand on it to paddle out I don't care how much you rip I don't see the point. There are a lot of guys out there on boards too small for them or the conditions they regularly paddle in.

The All Wave is a great board for its purpose a beginner-intermediate surf board with the ability to still paddle flat water (an all rounder). Given that description it would fit a very large proportion of people getting into sup. not everyone can ride a small high performance board and not everyone wants to either.

You're never going to see Allwaves ridden by the pros but the smaller ones will be pretty versatile for good paddlers in a mixture of conditions. I have a 9ft 6 one - too much volume for my weight but in the weak conditions that I have to put up with it gives me an edge to getting waves. All depends on your ability....if you are a really good paddler with decent surf I expect you'll look elsewhere but if you are an intermediate upwards and mostly have crappy conditions I reckon you can do quite a bit on these smaller Allwaves. No idea about the new 2014 ones but the previous models are brilliant noseriders which is a really good selling point - you have a user friendly surf sup which yo can stand on the nose too.

I've had 5 sessions on my 1st SUP, a 9'1" All Wave. It's been the best surf investment I've made bar none. Using a paddle to assist the turns is taking a bit of getting used to, but the wave count is huge and it has opened up days I wouldn't normally bother. Sunday I had a knee high peak to myself that was breaking too quickly for the Mals (they all packed it in very quickly!), I was onto the waves early enough to speed turn to the shorey to do a floater or a cutback. With no other SUP experience, I'd say the All Wave is great and if there are better boards out there I can't wait to ride them.

Absolutely spot on. They are made for versatility and fun but not for competitions That's all I was ever saying. In saying that, I bet Jacko, Keahi Kai etc. could probably still win comps against most people on them, just not as easily!! ( and obviously not the other really hot guys on their specialised equipment)

I've been riding the 9'6 pro wave and it's really made a difference to my wave count. Performance aside, it's the lightness of the board in the water and gets onto the wave much easier which for me as an older person has really given me the edge over my last two boards which were an 8'10 and 9'2 Allwave.
And to top it all the Prowave is so good to ride and handles really well, lightning fast. It took a bit of getting used to but after a couple of weeks I got it. And guess who's having the most fun in the water now.

Having just spent a week at Cotton Tree surfing an 8'11 allwave all I can say is wow!!! The board is awesome fun and as everybody says super stable. I would have only lasted an hour or so on my last board but on the allwave I was out in the water for almost 3 hours every morning

I have been riding it for a few weeks now and I still can't get the smile off my face.
Even a broken leggie and a broken paddle handle havnt dampened my mood.
I have never surfed stand up before (bodyboarder for years) and I can ride it and walk all over it.

Those new Fanatics must have the best handle on the market, so easy to carry the board round, just picked up a 8 ft 11 demo to try.

Hi guys, was hoping for some general advice.
As a family we are looking at a fanatic allwave. I will mostly use it local round mettams, scabs, trigg etc messing about but then on weekends/holidays the wife and kids will use it on the flat water dabbling about and prob as the kids (3&6) get bigger get into catching small waves.
i weight 85kg.
Im not sure whether to go the 8"11 or the 9"1.
I have kited waves for years, windsurfed for years before that, bit of surfing etc but only paddled a SUP twice on flat water.
If it were just for me id prob choose the 8"11 but not sure if it will be too small for the wife n kids on the flat water. that being said they will prob only mess about for an hour or so at a time anyhow.

Anyhow i see here a lot of guys say 8"11, yet 9"1 seems a pretty popular size also. Is the 8"11 better for throwing about in the surf? noticably? would it be too short/low volume for me to be stepping straight onto? i recon ill get right into this as i am a lazy paddler but LOVE riding waves, hence kiting.
I lke the idea of the shorter the better. the thing that has been putting me off getting one is the monstrosity of some boards.
anyhow frothing and hoping if you guys have any advice.

The allwaves are a good first board. If all they are doing is just paddling around on the flat the family will go fine.
My mrs surfs it fine and she paddles the flat water fine as well.

The best advice is to try and demo both sizes and see which one you prefer.

I'm 87kgs and ride the 8'11. I demoed both but found the 9'1 was a bit too much board for me and once on the wave I felt like a bit of a passenger and didn't have a lot of control. Stability is very good but when it's choppy I find it can move around a lot but still manageable.
