I am relatively new to SUP, but have done plenty of research and hired / demo a variety of boards , and would like some final opinion... As this site helped me immensely when I actually first started the journey for wife's first board (Naish Nalu 10'6" 2014 - which she loves)
As a 103kg 6 footer, I have my eye on 2014 or 2015 Naish Nalu 10'10" - for flatwater paddling around Swan River in Perth (Point Walter usually) and on the very odd occasion ankle slap waves up and down the coast,
What are your thoughts on this board? And would you have any reservations with my weight vs the Naish specs of max 109kg?
Have surfed for many years, and whilst no SUP expert have found it fairly easy (flatwater) and extremely enjoyable. Appreciate any opinion / advice.
Mighty, I was 109kg when I started SUP, and very unfit. My 10'10' Nalu helped me lose weight, learn how to SUP surf, and I could take the kids, the dog, and the esky for a paddle on a flat day. Loved the channels on a bigger day, the board got a great hum up. Very quick for a big plank. Many hours of fun on that board!
Great vids DJ So this is what I was going to post my exact questions thanks Mighty.. I to have taken out quite a few fanatic fly the 11'6" the 10'6" I tried the 14'x 24" falcon and I couldn't even stand on that needle bahahaha though it was a really choppy day and the best of the group was falling off too. I have a 12'x 31" supatx which is a nice board really cheap got it for $700 here in Adelaide, but my feet are about 1/8" under water all the time. the old adage you get what you pay for. I have been looking at the 11 and or the 11'4" as DJ would know... but I am now swaying toward this version of the Nalu the 10'10". I used to have a rip curl 6'4" thruster swallow tail with 4 channels only a quarter up the board from the tail and that used to be a pearler.. then that was some 23 years and 23kgs ago that I last surfed lol the aim is to loose some kilos and start to train for some DW fun... Save some more $$$$$$ and I might get a glide to start the DWers
