Just picked up a new board today. Took it for a quick surf. Not great waves, but felt really good.I normally surf a Naish Nalu 10'6.5, so will be interesting to see how different this one is.....

Took her out this morning in some ok surf. What a amazing board. Super stable, turns on a dime and super fast!
Does not pick up waves as easy as the Nalu, but is fast enough to cope with dropping in late on a wave.
All in all a fantastic board. Very happy with the purchase

Sounds excellent!!. Oh hang on a second the rails aren't right!!!!!!. You must be lying cause it's not exactly the same as a so called "performance board".. Oh hang on a second who are you performing for? You, oh well that's OK then. Just remember that if you are performing for someone else that you need to ride an unstable, low railed, super short board so that you can surf on it like a a 6'ft and under short board. That's what you want isn't it? That's what everyone should want isn't it?. I heard "White Lightning" MF say that when it wasn't fun anymore he'd stop competing. I can't seperate Taj, Joel, Kelly, Dane, The Hobgoods, Jordy or MF anymore. These guys are moving surfing forward because they try new things, are super competetive but are good mates out of the water. They don't say "Hey you're on a Quad" you can't win this comp!! There are big guy's in France riding sub seven SUPs. They have FUN, they have won their comp! There are guys riding 11' plus Long board style boards having FUN. They have won their comp! The agenda's that some people on this forum try to apply are unbelievable regarding board shapes, needs and performance. Maybe there should be one more sub forum in the Stand up paddle section called "Ultra Competetive know it all Egotists and self appointed experts". Seabreeze could make a fortune advertising Viagra, Testosterone, and SUP gear that is sold at Premium prices. Carbon and Kevlar products only?
I'd know not to bother entering that sub forum, making comments that reflect my opinion and hopefully avoid denigrating comments from self appointed experts because FUN is my performance criteria. After 47 years in the water, admittedly not always continuous, I've learned that FUN is the number one criteria for all sports, and it's much better to not say anything if it's not positive. My apologies for the negativity of this article, but I'm concerned about the need for a number of people that are really not known beyond the "Seabreeze Forums" (and in fact maintain a great deal of anonymity even in their "Seabreeze" profiles) to make unneccessary comment for the sake of their own egos and to make others observations seem irrelevant!!

Hi chris can I ask how much you weigh? I'm tossing up between the 8'11 and 9'1 and can't decide.

Hey, I'm 6'6 and weigh just over 100kg.

all wave shape seems to have evolved to a bit closer to the prowave hey?! must have given up a bit of that "catch anything" ability to get a bit sharper on the waves. is it still fairly heavy?

Just to make sure Allwave riders understand and unite. I use irony as a means of making a point. IMHO the Allwaves are one of the best designed boards made so far for Surf Supping. My opinion and I'm entitled to it. Anybody can ride them with a minimum amount of ability and what you can be done on them is only limited by the riders ability!! I was certainly not bagging anyone who rides one. I am truly amazed by comments in another thread that the Allwaves are somehow inferior to other boards. You cannot nose ride a Prowave or Hokua. It's like saying a quad is superior to a thruster. Long Live Allwaves!!! Go and perform on your Nowaves and Farquas. ( Yes, yes I know the new Prowaves are much better this year.) Leave a hat on the beach and someone might chuck twenty cents in it for your performance. I'll let you know how my custom goes (Thanks TSJ) when I get it! It's the only true way to get a board to maximum your abilities and disguise your inadequacies. Otherwise I would have bought the 8'11" Allwave or the 8'8" Widebody JP.

Just in case you didn't know Jordy and Kelly ride different volume and sized boards. All progressive surfers play with rail design and plan shape. If you think there is only one type of board that performs (especially given the varying surf and wave conditions in this big world of ours)then you are deluded and I feel sorry for you

Reckon Mazdon is right in that the new model is getting more like a beefed up Prowave.....probably a good thing on the waves....but not sure it will noseride as well as the older models....but maybe not important for most folks.

Leroy13 bravo to you..that was a amazing rant and a fun read. One amusing part was you said that if you cannot be positive to not say anything at all. What happened there?

Hi Chris, I have a Fibreglass twin fin set made by a company called Truames they have a great angle/cant on them and prevent me from slipping down the face of very, very steep waves they look to be about 6" long. My centre is a Fluid Foil 8" Dolphin (again fibreglass) with ball bearing adjustment system. No screwing or unscrewing and you can adjust in the water in around 30 seconds. I reckon eventually all fin boxes will have the ball bearing capacity to adjust the position of your fins, even the side ones easily. There would be no reason not to experiment wth them in an assymterical set up even. The system could definitely be applied to quads. I'm thinking of getting the same Fluid Foil Centre except shorter (6"?) to loosen it up even further on small clean/glassy days. I love the ease of adjustment. If I was a surf equipment entrepeneur (FCS or Futures) I would be looking at getting this sort of versatility applied to shortboards, Longboards, Sups, quads, thrusters etc so that you could truly customise your fin placement! I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of it, and I reckon in the next two years or so it will become far mor commonplace.

GL's and Jamie Mitchells get big wraps as well. In Melbourne we have an extremely rude, but likeable rogue named Zak in Thornbury who has a vast array of fins. Suprisingly he and his shaper/manager really know what they're talking about. Most capitals will have the same or try Ebay?? Fin selection really does make a difference!

Mine has come with a 5 7/8 rear and 5'' side ones....

Looking at GL's amd Jamie Mitchells they about the 5'' mark (give or take a bit)..

Yeah Chris, they were the same as mine I think. I'm a FOB so I needed more fin in the water in steep beachbreaks, plus when I did a bottom turn I was spinning it out in sucky waves ( really not a good place to do that!!) I have an awful lot of fin in the water. I reckon the FF 6"or 7" would be fine for you and the Truames would be great. Amazingly, the good shortboarders look to have a lot of fin in the water to allow the control they want, leg strength can get you to do what you want. The GL's and JM's would also be good choice's I'm sure and heaps of people swear by Shapers. Talk to the guy's where you bought the board. The fins the Allwaves come with aren't bad it's just there are now so many other great options. If I had the money I probably would by them all. Good Luck with it all and have FUN!!!
