Wondering if I could seek some advice...
Have done a fair bit of flat-water SUP, mainly on 11'6" NSP-type all rounders. Obviously these have got plenty of volume and glide easily. Given that I'm 6'2" and around 110kg, has anyone of similar size had any experience on a Starboard 10'5" Widepoint (approx. 178l volume I believe) and would it have sufficient 'float' for a guy of my size on flat water, or would it likely be semi-submerged and tippy due to my size? I'm anticipating the majority of my time to be on flat waters, however I used to surf quite a lot when younger, and would love to get back into the waves when I can, so not really wanting an 11' + board....added to which I could JUST fit a 10'5" through the door into my apartment...
Thought about an iSUP for a while due to storage issue but have been put off by reports of total lack of surfability....
Any bigger guys out there that can advise on the Starboard?

I surf on the 10'5x32" carbon widepoint great board so light, stable and keeps me well afloat I'm 100kg 6'1". It surfs well accelerates quick onto waves concave bottom holds you on to cut across steep wave faces. More for surf then flat water cruiser.
Tried the 9'5"x32" widepoint also only on flat water but was a bit sinky and shakey under my feet, prob could adapt to that after a while.

I have had the 10'5 silver widepoint for a couple of years and think you should have no probs at all , I also paddle this board in flat water with my kids on board without any probs. I have ranged from 110-120kgs on that board and it does flat water and surf well, now riding 9'5 widepoint at around 110kgs without any probs the tail is sometimes just at or under the waterline but I find this helps when surfing.

I am similar height and weight 100-105kgs and have had a similar journey, I used to have an nsp 11'6" it's a fun board to take out in waves' just make sure there is nobody within 50-100 feet of you as they get caught in the surf and can drag you for a fair way. I moved to the 10'5" wide point, that will float you fine. It's a good choice if it is flat water you will mostly be on, it's also great in the surf but you will progress past it pretty quickly if used regulary. Consider the 9'5" wide point or even better the 9" hero which is amazingly stable at 105kgs and is a cracker in the surf. Good luck

I used to own a 10'5" but went down to the 8'10" in candy but recently upgraded to the 2014 carbon, it "floats" me well and I am close to 100ks +/- 5. The 10'5" tracks nice where as the smaller WP's don't. Depending on your skill and balance run them in the Quad (yes I know the 10"5" doesn't come in quad) but if anyone does go for a smaller one put 4.7 on front and 4.5 on rear.
If your on the 10'5" wack a 140 centre fin in (you will lose some stability due to the smaller keel but it loosens up nicely once you jump on the tail)
10'5" is a good board just too big for me now as well as I have too many!

Okay, so have done plenty of research and (on 'paper' and from advice here, the 10'5 Starby Widepoint seems to tick all of my boxes. Is anyone aware of a Brisbane, Goldy or Sunny Coast dealer that has a Demo of it?

Hi Rosco, not sure surf fx might have one, they demo a lot of different boards at buds beach on a saturday mornings, think they still do, I have a 9'5" wide point if you are down gold coast you welcome to catch up and paddle that if it helps

I have a 10'5 carbon wide point that I absolutely love. I recently went on a road trip to Queensland and found that the board performed extremely well in a variety of different breaks. It goes particularly well on long point waves (but then again I guess most boards do). This is may fourth board and by far the best I have owned.
