Hi,

I'm considering buying a 2012 Naish Mana.

First of all, I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried the 2012 mana.

Secondly, I would much appreciate any input on whether to go for the 9.5 or the 10.0

I have an old 11.6 which I use for fun with my kid sitting in the front and for downwinders etc.

Just recently, I started surfing it more in the waves and it is too big for me to do bottomturns etc. even though I have a blast (I attached a pic to share the stoke).

I weigh 85 kg (approx 190 pounds) and I'm not a young man - meaning that I will not be doing 180's, extremely snappy topturns, etc.

Cheers

The 9'5 without doubt. The 10' is a great board but you will have more fun in the surf on the 9'5. I wieght similar to yourslef and am using a 9'

i haven't had a go on the 2012 models, but i have used both of these boards, i weigh in at 115kg and i can surf both of them very well, i feel that the 10 foot would be a little big for your weight for what you want it for, the 9'5 may still be a bit volumey for you so just try and demo them, maybe even try and demo the 9footer, just my 2c

Ive had both the 10-0 and the 9-5 , I agree the 9-5 is much more agile - its almost as stable and is the same thickness, this is the only drawback for me at 78kgs (53 yrs) is: if its too big or fast Im fighting that volume but for small or slow waves and mush, its fantastic. I got the AST and in the UK its £300 cheaper, no bag but its the same board, not quite as good looking as the bamboo but easier to repair.

Hi RexD

I am 64 yrs and 80kg started SUPping mid March 2011, tried a few boards and bought a 9' 4" x 30" - 150 L 2011 Oxbow Scout and one friend bought the 9'5" Mana and another the 10' Mana. While the 10 ft is good and very very stable it too big.

Both Oxbow and 9 5 Mana boards are good - the Mana is a little more stable at 31" wide and 190 L it has more rocker in the tail, the Oxbow paddles faster and straighter. Both are good on the small waves we have been riding - knee to shoulder high wave faces.

I have now down sized to a 9' x 29.5" Coreban Fusion Pure so the Oxbow is for sale on Sea Breeze. The Coreban would also be worth a try as it is almost as stable as the Oxbow.

The 10' Mana is also for sale as he bought a Coreban Fusion as well.

Yesterday I rode a 9' x 31.75" x 140L Angulo Surfa - it is as stable as 9'5" Mana IMO and surfs well in the small surf and they say it good in larger surf as well.

I love my 10' Mana but I reckon go for the 9'5" Mana.. It's almost as stable and surfs much better.
